Today is my 67th birthday 😀. At my age, it's not a very happy occasion, but since it's my anniversary, I'm celebrating with Sake 😇. I'm 67 years old and I'm celebrating with Shinmasa's No.6 and Date 7 which everyone told me I should try next year 🤣. This is the first time to drink No.6 at home 😇. I tried for the past year to bring No.6 home, but I couldn't get it until October and was about to give up 🤣. Then, I got a call from Ao-chan, a friend of Sake-no-wa, asking me if I had found the No.6 I was looking for ❓ and to my surprise, she agreed to give it to me 😀. I really appreciate a good friend in times of need 🙏. I've had No.6 a few times when drinking out, but having it at home is exceptionally delicious 😀. It was a pleasure to celebrate my birthday with the most delicious drink 😇. In case you were wondering, Kaorin changed the balloon number in the back of the photo from 66 to 67 🤣.

Tomorrow is my birthday! So today, on the eve of my birthday, we're having a toast to my family's standard drink, Sansho-san 🥂. I know I say it's a classic, but this is actually the first time I've had Kako-san 😇. The aroma is sweeter than the Yamadanishiki and Masuho that we usually drink 😀. The moment you drink it, it's full of the same stable shuwashu sensation as usual😇. However, what spreads from there on the palate is a sweet flavor reminiscent of white peaches 😀. But from there, it's a delicious taste that is crisp and clean 😀. Umai‼️😇 Yamadanishiki and Masuho have the same fruit but with a little sourness from the carbonation... fruit that reminds me of green apples or something, but I think I like Kako's sweetness more, which spreads and finishes nicely 😀. Since we had a good eve party successfully, we will open the main two bottles at the birthday party tomorrow 😀. I will be opening a bottle of 6 and 7 that were recommended to me by everyone on my 66th birthday last year 😇.

Today, thinking about the sake brewery I visited the other day in Iwakuni, I had a bottle of Mr. Ganki's Junmai Ginjo Mizunowasan, which I received as part of my Iwakuni hometown tax payment 😀. In case you were wondering, the brewery didn't have a limited edition so I bought the Junmai Daiginjo 🤣. Mizunowa-san has a mild aroma, not too pronounced and tastes beautiful and easy to drink 😀. I liked the fact that the taste and aroma were both mild and not too prominent 😀 I haven't drank it yet, but I bought it from the brewery. Today I participated in the rice harvesting at Heiwa Sake Brewery, which brews Kido-san in Wakayama Prefecture. I was a little worried about yesterday's rain, but we managed to have a beautiful day 😀. After last year's rice planting and harvesting, this year we planted rice again and harvested today 😀. Now that I know how to do it, I can genuinely enjoy the whole day, and I am now taking the bus back to Shin-Osaka 😀. I was looking forward to drinking Agara Junmai-shu from last year's rice planting and harvesting, but it was only the last Agara, which was a bit disappointing 🤣. I was looking forward to drinking Agara junmai sake from last year's rice planting and harvesting, but I was a little disappointed that it was still a little too early 🤣 The harvesting is fun, but the all-you-can-drink barbecue in the evening is the best part of every event. This Usu-Nigori is a really thin nigori😇 There was no automatic stirring and I was able to take the supernatant and the mixture properly, but it doesn't look much different 🤣. I want to keep the Jun Dai Hisho I just got in Yamaguchi on display for a while longer, so today it's a Junmai Ginjo Sandeshi I had at home 😀. Today's sake is Nechiozan 😀. Of course, this is the first time I've had this brand and it came to my house from a liquor store's hanpukai 🤣. I've never been able to get my hands on Niigata sake because it's so expensive 😅. It is said to be a blend of three different types of sake including Gohyakumangoku and Koshitanrei... The aroma is fruity and to my liking😇. The taste is... surprisingly... fruity but also delicious with a strong umami flavor 😀. It must have been a good combination to be able to blend and make such a beautiful and tasty sake😇.

The last stop on our tour of the five breweries in Iwakuni was a visit to Horie Sake Brewery of Kinjaku, famous for its Golden Chun Chun in sakekawa 😀. It's an hour's travel from Iwakuni to Nishikicho station on a local train called Seiryu Line through the Nishikigawa river valley😇. We safely saw the sake brewery from the outside and went to the store in a different location 😀. Inside the store, there were only samples and no products 😅. I asked the shopkeeper if there was any product I could buy, and the shopkeeper apologetically said that he could prepare a bottle of Hisho... I almost said "I want that one", but I said calmly like an adult 🤣. I got a bottle of Kinjaku Hisho this year, too 😇 When I was waiting for the train on my way home, I found a kiosk in the station building where they sell Kinjaku Josensen 😇. It is distributed locally, so in a way it is more difficult to find than the hard-to-find Kinjaku that is sold at the distributors 🤣. The rice and alcohol taste is quite stronger than the usual Kinjaku, but it still tastes great 😇 I served it with Iwakuni lotus root chips and Hofu Uiro bought at Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, but it is a delicious sake that goes well with everything 😀. The sake we got on this Yamaguchi sake brewery tour is in the 4th picture: ❤️

The third restaurant was Murashige Sake Brewery of Kinkan Kuromatsu 😀. It was easy to arrive thanks to Mr. Nakama Sou Touji of Gobashi who gave us a lift 😀. I was a little disappointed that there was no tasting at this brewery, although they have the biggest cedar ball in Japan as their signature 🤣. I bought a bottle of the brewery's limited edition Uraganekan Kuromatsu 😀. I took a commemorative photo with my friends, and the photo of Mr. Gohashi in his Kin-kan Kuromatsu happi might be a little precious 🤣.

Today's second stop is Sakai Sake Brewery in Itsukashi 😀! At this brewery, we were allowed to sample everything from the gold medal winning Daiginjos to Fives, and we were in drunk mode from the morning 🤣. Personally, I prefer the Junmai Ginjo Saito no Shizuku, which I have had several times😇. I bought a bottle of NOTEN, which is brewed from the summer rice crop by the brewery, and a newly made FIVE white 😇. During the tasting, Mr. Nakaso Toji, whom I have met several times, came out to meet me and asked me what was next, and when I told him I was going to visit Kinkan Kuromatsu, he agreed to drive me all the way there😇. Thank you so much 🙏!

Last day of my trip back to Yamaguchi 😀. We started our visit with Ganki-san 😀. Since there was no tasting at this brewery, the picture is of hiyaoroshi that we had last night at a local izakaya 😀 Luckily, it was a sealed bottle 😅. Lucky for us, it was sealed 😅. It was a delicious food sake with the mellowness of hiyaoroshi that matched with the meal 😀. In case you are wondering, the brewery didn't have a limited edition sake so I bought a Junmai Daiginjo 😇.

Today I participated in a brewery tour at Otters 😀 I've been to quite a few breweries in the past. I've had the opportunity to see the brewing process of many breweries, and I must say that it's amazing how well they manage the brewery and take detailed data on each tank to ensure that there is no variation in taste 😀. After the tour, while we were tasting the sake, a person who had recently visited Osaka for the Yamaguchi Sake Fair came to greet us. I told him that even I can always tell which brand Otters are the best, and he said that from my point of view, there is still a lot of pre-tasting to do 😅... Later the store owner asked me if I knew our brewery head ❓😅😅😅😅. Otters don't have a master brewer, but he is the head brewer who is like the master brewer and is said to have the tongue of God within the company🤣. Sorry for being rude 🙇. As an apology, I bought not the usual Otters, but a limited edition sake called "Noboromon" which was brewed by a team of two young men responsible for the Yamaguchi limited edition blue 😀.

On Saturday, my father's 49th day was over without incident and we came to Asa, one stop away from Shimonoseki by Shinkansen bullet train 😀. We visited Nagayama Shuzo, the brewer of Yamazaru, which we visited last year, to get drunk and become a monkey 🤣. After a long and hard decision at Nagayama Shuzo, we bought two bottles of the brewery's limited edition. After that, we went to an izakaya (Japanese style bar) between the hotel and the brewery 😀. It is a nice restaurant with the atmosphere of a small restaurant rather than an izakaya 😇. This is a great place for Yamazaru lovers, as almost all of the sake served here is Yamazaru 😀. We will have the Yamazaru 7 kinds drinking comparison: 🙆‍♂️ They have 8 kinds of sake in the store, but they said they only have 7 because they can't get through the Bon Festival 😀. Of course, we also got a bottle other than the one in the set, so we have the full set of Yamazaru at the store. The master of this restaurant is of course a sake lover, and the dishes he serves are also very tasty, and he even thought of pairing each Yamazaru with its flavor 😇. I was impressed by the new way of eating Yamaguchi's famous kawara soba (kawara soba) 😇. We were even able to compare the Yamahai brewed sakes, especially the Yamahai brewed sake, by using this technique to drink it lukewarm and chilled 😀. Kaorin even got a Yamazaru T-shirt while enjoying the sake and food over the counter😇.
