Yamaguchi Sake Festival on my return trip to Shimonoseki (7) Today we will open a bottle of Ganki, which we purchased when we went back home to Yamaguchi 😀 Ganki is a sake brewery in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. There are many delicious sake breweries in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, such as Otters, Kinjaku, Gohashi, etc., and this Ganki is also a delicious sake 😇. Actually, I've had sparkling sake from Ganki, but this was my first time to drink the normal type 😀. You might say I'm a local fan, but all the sakes from Yamaguchi are delicious 💕😀😀.

㊗️Today is exactly one year since we started Sake-no-wa...we are the first year of Sake-no-wa 😀! So, I opened a bottle of Toyo Bijin's Ichibancho together with the Yamaguchi Sake Festival (⑥) when I went back to Shimonoseki🎊. I thought the package was the most festive of all the Yamaguchi sakes, so I aimed to open the bottle on our first anniversary😇. I was surprised by the aroma that spread as soon as I opened the bottle: ‼️😀 As expected of a Junmai Daiginjo, the aroma is overwhelming 😇 The taste is... gorgeous, with a hint of fruit and flowers mixed in 😀. I've had many Toyo Bijin's so far, including Junmai Ginjo, Daiginjo Zipangu, and Jun Dai no Hanamoji, but this sake had an overwhelming presence of flavor more than any other sake😇.

Yamaguchi Sake Festival on my return to Shimonoseki (5) My short trip back to Shimonoseki is over and I'm safely back home 😀. When I went back home last year, I wasn't really into sake yet, so I wasn't interested in Yamaguchi sake or sake breweries, but one of my main goals this time was to meet Yamaguchi sake😇. I was able to secure quite a few sakes by visiting sake breweries and liquor stores 😀. First to open this day is Gohashi from Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture 😀. This one is a sake brewed with a blend of Saito no Shizuku and Yamada Nishiki 😀. We will compare them with Mimuro Sugi and Hana Yuu, both of which we had opened before leaving home 🍶. All the sakes are different in the direction of deliciousness, but they are all delicious sakes 😀. Actually, I've only had the ride? series and this was my first time to try the standard Gobashi, so I was surprised at how tasty it was: ‼️ I am looking forward to more sake from Yamaguchi Prefecture tomorrow 😇

Good evening, Yasube-san. Yamaguchi Sake Festival as soon as I got home - it's a quintessential Yamaguchi sake festival: ⤴️ I haven't had a lot of Yamaguchi sake, but I remember that all the ones I've had have been delicious 🎵. I would like to try the standard Gobashi 😊.

Hi, ma-ki-San 😀 I realize now that the level of Yamaguchi sake is also quite high 😇. In addition to Gobashi, Iwakuni City in Yamaguchi Prefecture has a good selection of Otters, Kinjaku, Ganki, etc. 😇 If you have a chance, please let me know.

Yamaguchi Sake Festival on the way back to Shimonoseki ④ Finally, the ferry boat trip back from Shimonoseki: ⛴️ With the sunset from the boat in the background, the Izakaya Ferry is open 🤣. Today's bottle is a Junmai Daiginjo from Kai Hibiki, which was purchased yesterday at the Shimonoseki Shuzo brewery 😀. It's a junmai daiginjo, but it doesn't have a very high ginjo aroma 😅. But it is a delicious sake with a crisp and clear taste of rice 😀. The Junmai Daiginjo was also delicious and perfect for a mealtime drink 😀. I will be back in Osaka tomorrow morning and will continue the Yamaguchi Sake Festival for a while😇

Yamaguchi Sake Festival on return to Shimonoseki ③. Visiting sake breweries on foot (7) On the second morning of my second day back home, I took the JR train to Asa in Sanyo Onoda City, which is next to Shimonoseki, and visited Nagayama Shuzo, the brewer of Yamazaru in Asa. When I told the owner that I was from Kansai, she told me that they were just now opening a store in Hanshin, Umeda, and that they were sending most of their sake products to the store... I was so surprised 🤣. Still, I asked my mom if she could recommend any sake that they don't send to Kansai as a souvenir for my sake-loving friend, and I got it 😀. Perhaps feeling sorry for me, my mom brought out more than 10 bottles of sake from the fridge and told me to pour as much sake as I wanted and drink it as much as I wanted 😇. They were all delicious, but I especially liked this Aizanzaru 😀. It's a mountain monkey brewed in Aizan, so it seems to be an Aizan monkey 🤣. I thought it was a refreshing, sharp and fruity drink, just as I expected from Aizan 😀. I heard that it is limited to 2000 bottles and they are sending it to Hanshin as well, so I will buy it again after I go back to Kansai 😀. With this, all the purposes of this trip home were successfully completed🙆 I will return to Osaka on the ferry that departs in the evening. ⛴️

Yamaguchi Sake Festival (2) on my return trip to Shimonoseki Whenever I go back home to Shimonoseki, I always stop by this restaurant 😀 It is a izakaya owned by a fresh fish restaurant. It's an izakaya owned by a fresh fish restaurant, and the fish is delicious anyway, and you can even eat Shimonoseki's specialty, fugu (blowfish) and whale 😀. Kaorin was satisfied with a few pieces of tessa and said she was an adult eater, and I was also satisfied with whale sashimi 😀. We had Golden Chun Chun 🤣 here! As I thought, there are no stores that sell it in Shimonoseki, but there are a lot of stores that let you drink it 😀. Unfortunately, the store was too busy to let me take a picture of the bottle, but it went perfectly with Yamaguchi's specialty 😀.

Yamaguchi Sake Festival in Shimonoseki back home①. Visiting sake breweries on foot (6) Having successfully fulfilled the purpose of my trip home, which was to check on my father and visit my auntie who had taken care of me since I was little, I am now going on a tour of the sake breweries in Yamaguchi Prefecture🤣. First of all, we visited Shimonoseki Shuzo in Shimonoseki 😀 This is my first time to visit this brewery 😀. This is my first visit 😀. Locally, they are famous for their fugu (blowfish) fillet sake in a cup (locals call it fugu, not blowfish) and a sake called Sekimusume, but I have never seen it in Kansai 🤣. It seems they recently renewed Sekimusume and changed it to Sekimusume in hiragana 😇. I had it together with Baseki and New Modern Daiginjo in a drinking comparison, but if I were to drink the sake by itself, this Sekimusume was my favorite with its soft, gentle and fruity taste 😀. Of course, I will take this sake home as a souvenir 😇

I'm going to check on my father who is staying at a special care facility in my hometown of Shimonoseki. Just now, the ferry departing from Osaka Nanko has just passed the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge 😀. I opened a bottle of the brewery's limited edition sake that I bought at the brewery store Sekijuan during my previous visit to Ozeki 😀. We managed to reach the 400th milestone without a hitch 😀. Of course, our number one is Kaorin's favorite, Mr. Hanamup 😀! Out of the 400, Kido-san had the most bottles (20) and Hanamup-san had the second most bottles (12) 🤣. But due to some adult reasons, Hanamaru-san is only bottled in 1 sho (1.5 liter) bottles, and the rest are mostly 4-gou bottles, so in terms of the amount we drink, Hanamaru-san is number 1 in our house 😀. This is the only Hanamup that we currently have in stock, so we decided to open today's bottle with this Hanamup's Omachi 😇. Hanamaru-san's sake has a beautiful and delicious sharpness with any rice, but I still prefer the nama-shu with any rice. From now on, I can only get fire-brewed sake for a while 🤣.

Actually, Maru-san, who is a good friend of mine at Sake-no-wa, and I participate in the hanpukai at the same liquor store 😀. Maru-san drank this Mimuro Sugi the other day and gave it a high rating, so we opened the bottle with high expectations 😇 Well... it's delicious 😀. Maru-san and I have similar taste preferences, so I was full of anticipation, but the sake was even better than I had imagined 😀. The sake that was brought to room temperature for tasting practice and the sake that was chilled were both delicious, though in different directions 😀. The one at room temperature had a powerful fruit flavor with a gorgeous Jun Dai aroma 😀. And the chilled one, after entering the mouth, the taste of quality fruit that is not too strong runs around the entrance of the throat in a circular motion and then it finishes 😀. It is labeled as a wooden vat, but I could hardly feel the wooden vat 😀.

This is a sake I bought the other day at Yamamoto Honke in Fushimi, Kyoto, where I visited the brewery on foot 😀. Junmai Daiginjo, a limited edition sake brewery. For some reason, when I visit a brewery, I'm always attracted to the words "limited edition" 🤣. Since I was there, I decided to compare the sake at room temperature and chilled for the tasting 😇 The tasting sake at room temperature has a very fine ginjo aroma 😀. The aroma of the rice was very strong 😇. The crisp and fruity mouthfeel of the chilled sake is good, but the rounded mouthfeel of the tasting sake that was brought to room temperature is also good 😀. It is rare to find a sake that tastes so good both chilled and at room temperature, but I really enjoyed it 😇

Hi Yasbay 😃 If you go to the brewery, you can't help but buy the "brewer's limited edition" 😅I'd put it back to room temperature before drinking and compare the different temperatures! Sounds interesting 🤔I'll try to copy it next time🤗.

Hi Jay & Nobby 😀 Maybe the main purpose of going to the brewery is to buy the limited edition sake 🤣. This way of drinking is actually a preparation for the sake tasting exam for the sake diploma 😅. The sake for the exam comes out at room temperature, so it's a countermeasure for that 😅.

It is brewed with specially cultivated rice in Okayama, Omachi, in a collaboration between agriculture, commerce, and industry and a university 😀. It's a bright, beautiful and delicious sake, typical of Okayama, the land of sunshine 😀.

This sake is from last year's brewing year, which I purchased when I visited Heiwa Sake Brewery, which brews Kido-san in early summer of this year 😀. In fact, I was able to participate in the planting of this year's Agara sake rice at Heiwa Shuzo on that day 😀. The taste was a bit different from the gorgeous and fruity Kido that I usually drink, it was more like a thicker taste with the power of the earth 😀. But it's Kido, and within that strength, there is a hint of the Kido glamour that I always feel 😀 Delicious! Delicious😇 In October, we will participate in harvesting the rice we planted ourselves 😀. I would be more than happy if the photos of rice planting and harvesting would be on the label of this brewing year's Agara, with me and Orin in the picture 🤣.

Last night I got home late so Kaorin's birthday was just a toast at Kinkame, so today we went for a sake lunch 😀. The second floor of a store called Sake Kouzou in Osaka city is the store's own Japanese pizza and koji restaurant 😀. It's a very good restaurant, but you can also buy sake from the store on the first floor and have it served to you 😀. This is the store I use to buy Nabeshima, but today I decided to try the bubbly sake 😀. They had sparkling sake from Kido and Otters, but Kaorin chose Kido's sparkling sake😇. We had a fermented sake snack set and a miso-based Japanese pizza, which went well with the sparkling sake 😀. Hi Pon 😀 I'm glad that there are more sakes with flavors I like, but there are so many that I'm not sure what to get next 🤣. In that sense, hanpukai is a good system for our family 😀.

I contact them every night with a 6-bottle sake tasting set, and this Otter is the only one that I can taste properly every time 🤣. Maybe I can easily identify the Otter because I've had it a few times, but the other sakes are too difficult to blind taste because it's my first time 😅. I might be able to tell which sake it is if I drink the bottle until it's empty, but if it's my first taste of a completely different sake in a test, I'm confident I won't be able to tell 🤣.
