Purchased at Sota Watanabe Shoten in August. When I went camping in the summer, I attended with melons from Yamama and Niida Zenshu, but both were gone in an instant, so I didn't raise them to check in 😂. Such is the classic brand of the Niida head family. Did I drink it cold (room temperature) at first? I don't remember. (LOL) I thought it was very tasty when I drank it heated (probably hot)! I thought it was delicious! The complex acidity and umami of the rice, unique to the brewer's yeast, is extended by the warming up of the sake! I love the way the flavor expands when heated. I think it tastes great chilled, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend heating it up. I might want to keep this one on hand. I'm glad I don't have to put the classic in the fridge. When I opened the bottle and poured it, the aroma was freshly cooked and fluffy, like rice cakes or rice. It is a four-step glutinous rice brewing process. The mouthfeel is smooth like Gunma sake, but gradually a gentle and deep sweetness like sugar or spuds spreads gradually. When heated, it has a full-bodied, rice-like flavor. The sweetness is not too strong, but rather relaxing. Perfect for enjoying in the colder months. The sweetness itself is more subdued than the normal type, but on the other hand, you can fully enjoy the cleanliness that is typical of Gunma sake, which is a good balance!

As the summer is drawing to a close (the heat is still on), I opened a bottle of "Katsuragawa" sake on the rocks, which I was looking forward to drinking again this year! And the back of the bottle is falling apart due to condensation again😇. When we opened the bottle and poured it, the aroma was sweet and fluffy, typical of "Katsuragawa". It is a bit sour and comes in through the nose as if it is cold on the rocks. The mouthfeel has a pettiness by default, but on the rocks it is smooth and silky. Hakone Drink Comparison Set (2) On March 1, after a year-long event, I went on a trip to Hakone as a way of consolation! The local sake was served to compare with Japanese kaiseki. It was my first time to try Hakonezan! This is the spiciest sake in the group. It is a dry ginjo-shu as you might imagine, but it is moderately rich and very good as a mid-meal drink. Of course, it goes well with ingredients as they are, but it also goes well with dishes that have been added, such as those using dashi (Japanese soup stock)!
