This is a sake from my hometown - Echizen Ono (Ono City, Fukui Prefecture). It used to be sold at roadside stations, but I looked for it again on my return trip, but I didn't seem to see much of it in the city. I wondered if they are limiting the amount of brewing - or if they are just out of stock. This is the one I found in my parents' fridge. Cool and pungent. A cool spiciness, followed by a nice, clean rice flavor. Then, a strong wave of spiciness hits you. The spiciness swells up while accepting freshness, umami, and sweetness. The intense flavor is intoxicating. After all, Genpei is delicious. I found out that Genpei Shuzo went bankrupt last November, and the direct sales shop was closed. The story of the bankruptcy and revival of the brewery was also seen in the morning drama "Ranman," and I look forward to the time when I can experience the taste of Genpei again.

Saga, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Saga Brewery Co. Umenomado Special Junmai 3㌥ I tasted and bought this at the Sake Expo held at the Kintetsu Main Store in Abeno Harukas. I actually had it yesterday, but since it is a special junmai, I compared the two. We will drink it cold. The color is clear and almost colorless. The top aroma is mild and not very noticeable. The taste has a robust rice flavor, sweetness, and a nutty, chocolate-like complexity. It is rich and mellow, but compared to Saka, it has a more traditional country-style flavor. The aroma on the nose is bitter and chocolatey. By the second day, the chocolaty flavor has settled down, and a clear, mineral, full flavor emerges, making it easier to drink. Saga, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Saga Brewery Co. Saka Tokubetsu Junmai Nama Nama Zake. Purchased after tasting at the Sake Expo held at the Kintetsu Main Store in Abeno Harukas. Saka is a new brand, and is apparently better known as "Ume" (window plum). It is served cold. The color is clear with a slight yellowish tinge. The top aroma is mild, with a slight hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel is smooth with a slight flocculation, and it does not feel fresh to the extent that it should. On the palate, there is a little bit of juicy acidity, a little bit of tangy alcohol, and a nutty, full flavor that spreads. The aftertaste is a bit of a sharp spiciness, with a slight throat hit after swallowing. I bought it thinking it would be sweeter and more umami, but it was surprisingly dryer than I expected. Koshikoi Nama-zoi is a freshly stored sake. This is the first sake from Chiba. It is slightly sweet and surprisingly refreshing. I've never tried sake from outside of Chiba Prefecture before. I would drink it every day!

The rice used is Gohyakumangoku and Nihonbare. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say it's "Omnivorous Japanese Sake Partridge". I learned of the existence of this sake through non non's post. It was a little difficult to go there because you can only buy it at the direct sales place which is open only on weekdays.... It was a nice homey sake brewery 😊. It was limited to 100 bottles and they were the last 3 bottles. It's shwashy, sweet and sour. It may be a daiginjo, but it doesn't taste like yamahai and is easy to drink.

I ate okonomiyaki, went to an izakaya (Japanese style bar), and at the end, I got the last of a bottle of sake that the owner recommended 😊I got the last of a bottle as a courtesy 😋. It's like a summer sake with a refreshing taste 😚 and a crisp aftertaste 😋. It went well with oysters, small sardines, conger eels and other specialties. ❤️ I'm going to work hard tomorrow and then go back to the liquor store 🥳.

Tonight, I'm posting my second bottle, this one I've been letting go for about 2 years to contrast with the first (Miyazumi Junmai Nigori Nama) 🍶. Actually, I bought it at the same time as the previous Junmai, but when I drank the Junmai, I took it for granted that this was a sake that should be aged for a long time 😪💤 and it has been in the bottle for a long time until now 😌. The aroma is grain-like, or Western liquor-like, or mature aroma, and the smell alone is enough to make you feel drunk. 😵💫 I think it's better to drink it at room temperature or warmed than chilled because the initial smell will disappear.
