Hakone Drink Comparison Set (2) On March 1, after a year-long event, I went on a trip to Hakone as a way of consolation! The local sake was served to compare with Japanese kaiseki. It was my first time to try Hakonezan! This is the spiciest sake in the group. It is a dry ginjo-shu as you might imagine, but it is moderately rich and very good as a mid-meal drink. Of course, it goes well with ingredients as they are, but it also goes well with dishes that have been added, such as those using dashi (Japanese soup stock)!

This was the first time I drank Abe-kan at home. The one I drank in the past was a special sake with a special kijoshu spec, so I don't think it was any different from the first time I drank it. It is dry with a strong gassy and acidic taste. It is not that sweet, but it is easy to drink because of the sourness. I don't think I've ever seen Abe-kan sold anywhere but Edion Namba.

This is a special Junmai Nama Genshu with a rice polishing ratio of 60%. First of all, the fruity ginjo aroma that is typical of freshly squeezed sake is a nice touch. A short trip to Boso during summer vacation. We stopped by Inahana Sake Brewery, a small sake brewery in Chonan Town. I asked, "Is there any sake that can only be bought here?" Purchased at Kintetsu Department Store event, Sake Tour. I compared it with Junmai Ginjo and was impressed with this one, so I bought it. Fresh and citrusy? It is sweet at the beginning, but the sweetness and umami come in the second half of the bottle. I have to admit that I've only seen Hyo Hyohi at department store events. Apparently, the brewery that makes the sake is in Awa City, which is different from the address on the label.
