This is my first New Year's Day back in my hometown Osaka. This year, my parents invited us to their department store Osechi. My sister and her husband brought me a bottle of Okutanba as a celebratory sake. You can feel the sweetness of the rice in the beginning, but it changes to a dry taste in the middle to the end. It is a perfect match for the richly flavored Osechi and fatty yellowtail sashimi. It is said that the sake degree is +5 (dry), but I feel that it is +2~3 (slightly dry?). I guess. Anyway, it was a delicious sake. Thanks to my sister and her husband!

The sake my sister and her husband served me at New Year's was so good that I decided to pick up another brand from the same brewery. Okutanba Junmai Ginjo. This is Yamana Shuzo's regular sake. As stated on the label, the brewery has a long history, having been founded in Kyoho. The Edo period (^_^;) is amazing. It was my wife's fourth birthday today. I really wanted to go out to eat, but the situation was such that we had a takeout party at a yakitori restaurant and drank at home. Thank you for your continued support. I had a cold glass of sake. Oh, dry? It's been a while since I've had a dry, crisp sake. Even though it's light and refreshing, you can still feel the taste of the rice right after you put it in your mouth. At the same time, there is a sense of alcohol, but the aftertaste is short, so it gives a refreshing impression. According to the brewery's website, it has a sake strength of +1. ＋Hmm? +1? It's not dry, is it? Once again, I realized that the accuracy of my tongue sensor is disappointing (tears). Well, everyone has their own way of feeling.

Today we had a little late lunch after visiting Yame, Setaka, and Yanagawa. While waiting for the eels to be steamed in the "seiro" in Yanagawa, we checked in at Kitaya in Yame, which we had visited in the morning. The third photo is the main building of Kitaya. One of the sake I wanted to try because of the stylish label❗️ A hint of pear? White peach? It smells like pear or white peach 😅 Elegant sweetness and almost no sourness ❗️ No bitterness or habits, and the aftertaste seems to disappear easily 😄. Overall, it's a gentle sake that goes well with meals. It's a delicious sake that can be drunk easily on its own 👍 Even sake beginners can enjoy it 😄.

Newly registered brand. Since the sake brewer could not be registered, the new brand is "Aizu Otokoyama" from Otokoyama Shuzo Brewery in Aizu Misato Town, Fukushima Prefecture. Its new brand name is "Wa". It has a mild aroma. It has a melon aroma and a hint of sweetness like caramel. The sweetness that is not too strong is impressive. There is some acidity. The aftertaste is strong alcohol. A strong bitterness also lingers. I have a feeling that it will be excellent with Japanese food.

Akebono Shuzo's Akebono Seishun, well known for Tenmei. I drink Tenmei from time to time, but this label is new to me, so I opened the bottle 🎉. The aroma is gentle and subdued. It has a slight viscosity and seems to be quite sweet, but the bitterness soon develops. It then fades away leaving a complex umami taste. At 17 degrees alkalinity, the flavor is thick and robust from the first sip 👊. This Daiginjo is made from Yamada-Nishiki polished to 40%. We enjoyed this clear yet rich umami sake 😋.

Pitchy fresh. Light mouthfeel with a green apple-like flavor. The sweetness is moderate and a little bitter. Not too sweet and easy to drink. If I drink sake, I should also drink wine. Kenzo Estate's aska 2013 is over 30,000 yen. I only had one glass, the rest was sake 😅.

Different tastes with different vectors 😋. This sake is characterized by sweetness and umami, not dryness. The common feature is a powdery taste like Kamishinko. I bought this Wakaba unfiltered sake in the summer and felt it was still young, so I let it sleep in the closet. It has a good balance of flavor, with the punch of unfiltered sake, but without losing the simple country feel of Wakaba. I put it in the closet again, but it was good enough. It's not Wakaba, but Higuchi Shinyo, a triple axel that is anything but rustic! The ROC is still very difficult, but I hope the Japanese will do their best to get on the podium!
