Last night was a New Year's party with a couple I met last year. We had dinner at a nice restaurant and then went to Kokubuncho. After the fourth bar, I finally had a chance to drink sake. I have known the owner of this sake bar on the outskirts of the city for about 25 years now. The lighting doesn't look like it's the kind of place you'd enjoy sake, but don't worry about that. The selection is quite good, so go for something you've never tried before. First up is Hiryu, the one with Tatsumi Fujinami's red towel. A dry sake with a refreshing yet tasty flavor, just like Mr. Shinzawa! Thank you very much for your hospitality!

My best friend gave me a small bottle to share with my last drink 😆👍. By the way, my best friend's wife recommended it to me. She likes it dry 😄. I wanted a dry, dry drink. There are days when I'm in that mood. You might say don't choose raw, but I realized it after the sake bottle came. I enjoyed it with yudofu. It fits my mood today. When I think of dry, dry sake, I think of Niigata, Hiroshima, and Kochi. I admit to disagreeing.

Second stop on the Takayama sake brewery tour. We visited Funasaka Sake Brewery. As usual, the tasting machine took care of us. I chose a junmai ginjo that seemed to suit me from the description. It was described as sweet, but I got the impression that it was medium sweet with no fruity taste. I wonder if it would be a sweet sake in this brewery's lineup? It tasted crisp.

Sake from a sake brewery in the northern part of the prefecture, located in the famous production area of Hachitan-Nishiki, Hiroshima's representative sake rice. The brewery has been working on it since the rice was first produced. The name of the sake is "Miwa Sakura" instead of "Miwa Zakura," which I had been misreading for a long time. It is said to be dry, but the quality of the sake is relatively soft. It has a nice sharp aftertaste and is easy to drink. It is quite my favorite 😋.
