This sake is brewed by Umeshiki Yamakawa, a subsidiary of the major sake maker Hakutsuru Shuzo. In recent years, Hakutsuru Shuzo has purchased a number of breweries from across Japan. The Aomori-based brewer Momokawa, which uses Hakutsuru Nishiki, is also a subsidiary company of Hakutsuru Shuzo. Not much of an aroma, slight whiff of alcohol. Dry, watery and clean on the palate, with little umami and a slight alu taste. After drinking it, it has a light throat feeling with a faint sweetness. It is a standard shokuchu sake. For the snacks, we had stewed kalbi and root vegetables, mussel pickled in soy sauce, chili bonito sakutome, and baby star ramen with the flavor of kondashi. It goes best with sakabuto, which enhances its sweetness.

This sake was tasted along with the Junmai Ginjo I posted earlier. We were there when the store opened on the first day of tasting and sales, so all the sakes were unsealed, so we were able to sample them in fresh condition. I recommend going on Wednesday when the store opens 😆. It is Rokumaru with 60% rice polishing ratio. It is the same as Shinomine. It has more richness and umami than Junmai Ginjo. It is suitable for warming up.

I couldn't go anywhere during the second half of GW because I had to stay at home. So on the last day, I will just enjoy the feeling of traveling with this cup of sake. The sake I chose when I returned home for Obon was Gold Junmai Daiginjo by Popular Sake Brewery. This sake brewery is very particular about the traditional method of making sake, and everything is made in wooden vats. It is a junmai daiginjo that is polished to 50%, so there is no cloying taste at all ✨It starts with an elegant sweetness and rice flavor, with the aroma of the wooden vat and a slight bitterness at the end. Delicious 😊.

I'm opening another bottle today😍. My first Miyazaki sake. Everyone says Miyazaki is hard to get, so I popped in 🤣 I ordered it with Jidori Koko 👍. It's a bit sweet, but not too sweet. It has a modern umami taste, similar to a brand I've had before like Tsushima-ya 😋 It's quite refreshing and the sharpness disappears quickly 😋 It seems to be the only brewery in Miyazaki that specializes in sake 😋 It's delicious - thanks for making sake 😂.

Scoring: ☆☆☆☆ Miyazaki's only sake brewery specializing in sake, Chitoku Shuzo. It has a mild aroma with a good sweetness 😄. Refreshing drink with little lingering aftertaste. 😋 A lightly flavored umami type, or perhaps an 🏠. Not much umami or bitterness lingering on the tongue. Easy to drink but needs one more punch😅. It has an old fashioned taste but with a modern drinking style😋. Quite a tasty sake😋. Tonight I'm having seafood nabe with oysters, cod and scallops 🎵👍
