The last of the Maikaze series I bought this year is "Seigiri"! It's by Machida Shuzo, so it's a definite one for every year👍. When you open the bottle and pour it, the aroma is mellow and fresh with a melon-like richness, as if it were directly pumped. The mouthfeel is dense and juicy. The combination of the sweet flavor, the petitiveness of the gas, and the brightness makes it taste like melon juice! But the mild sweetness of the Maikaze also makes it calm overall, and it has just the right potential for a leisurely drink ✨. The sweetness is gradually followed by a touch of astringency, and the way it is brought together is a very powerful combination! I am happy to be able to enjoy the various faces (brands) of Maikaze again this year 😌. I am looking forward to next year, dreaming of completing the series someday!

It is one of the fun of every year to develop a new spring Maikaze series 😌. This year, following "Yu" will come "Funao Taki"! When opened and poured, it has a crisp aroma of lime and mint. The mouthfeel is rounded with a full-bodied sweet and sour taste. It tastes young and mild, like a banana that still has a green tinge! The sweetness without any spines or habits is Maikaze's typical taste. I can feel how well it goes with not only refreshing sake, but also moist sake ✨. The astringency of the aftertaste creates a melon taste and tightens the sweetness, so it is gentle yet elegant 👍. The next bottle will be the last in the Maikaze series that we have acquired this year. The summer of Gunma sake is finally approaching..!

Then the raw sake type on the left! When the bottle is opened and poured, it has a melon-like aroma. The mouthfeel is smooth, but because it is a nama-shu, it has a green and fresh flavor. The sweetness and astringency are more apparent than in the hi-ire type. While the hi-ire type has a consistent quality and flavor throughout, this type has a more distinct umami and sharpness. It has a good balance of melon and green apple flavors with a fresh sharpness ✨. Gunma was originally just a day trip for me, but thanks to Mt. Akagi (⛰️&🍶), Gunma sake & hot springs, and the great views from the mountains, it's now an important place for me to relax. I will continue to visit here 😌.

Finally, I've reached 100 check-ins in Gunma 🥳! This time, I will be drinking the "Akagisan" series and "Maikaze", which was the first time I got to know sake itself! I started with the fire-brewed type on the right. When the bottle is opened and poured, the aroma is sweet and pure, like a peach. The mouthfeel is refreshing, as is typical of Akagisan, but unlike the standard sake, this one has a slightly sweet taste. Maikaze's gentle and unassertive sweetness is perfectly matched with the coolness of "Akagisan," and the taste is like that of natural peach water! The astringency and standard sharpness you feel in the latter half is also an excellent combination. It is perfect both during the meal and on its own✨.

The last one is "Akagisan" Daiginjo! Fruity aroma like green apple or pear. The mouthfeel is crisp, but the sweet and delicious flavor is both juicy and light, like pears and apples. It is fresh, clear, and delicious, elegant yet easy to drink! We had a gorgeous moment with the golden dharma ✨. It was our first trip to Gunma in a year, and the hot springs, sake, and natural scenery were as great as ever. ☺️ Next time I'd like to go to Shima or Shojin area!

Good evening, hoshiaki! I was also surprised when I saw it for the first time, but I heard it was a limited edition item celebrating the 140th anniversary of Takasaki Station! It's full of wild vegetables and light, so it goes perfectly with the light Gunma sake ✨.

Good evening, ma-ki-! For me, it was a sacred place for sake, so I was so excited 🫣. There are more places for sake tasting and lunchtime drinking than before, and I have high expectations for the future progress of Gunma's sake breweries.

After a few drinks, it was quite late, so I headed home while eating a golden dharma bento commemorating the 140th anniversary of Takasaki Station. I will close my Gunma trip with "Akagisan" and "Funao Taki"! Sweet and sugary aroma like sugar. The taste is smooth and silky, and while it has a Gunma sake-like quality, it tastes more like a sweet sake derived from brewer's alcohol. There is nothing outstanding about it, but it is a perfect match for ekiben (boxed lunches), with its unobtrusiveness, slight sweetness, and crispness!

Personally, I can't miss Jyoshu Classic when I come to Gunma! It is my favorite because it is completely different in taste from the Tsuchida series, which is why I can feel Mr. Tsuchida's great ability👍. Grain-like aroma. The mouthfeel is surprisingly crisp, with a caramel-like sweet and astringent taste in the softness. In the second half, the sharpness of the dry astringent taste comes out, and it is perfectly balanced. The bread-like aftertaste is also addictive 🍞. It's been a while since I've had a Jyoshu Classic, but I can't help but feel that it's well separated from the Tsuchida series... ✨

I've been buying "Tanigawa-dake" and haven't had a chance to drink "Mizubasho" very often. I decided to have it because of this opportunity. The aroma is almost berry-like, with a hint of strawberry. It is smooth on the palate, with a sweet and sour astringent taste. However, the flavor assertion is modest and light. The impression is that one can enjoy the ups and downs of the sweet, sour, astringent, and spicy flavors in a leisurely manner! I wonder if the depth of the sweetness and the hint of aroma would spread if it were served in a glass... 😌.

Next is "K Katsuragawa" which I often drink as a summer sake or something! This is the first time I've had a regular jungin type 👍. The aroma is soft and almost like a western pastry. The mouthfeel is moist and immediately afterwards the rice flavor is clear and delicious. Perhaps it is because it is a jungin type, but the full flavor of the rice can be felt more clearly than anything I have ever had before. It is truly mellow. When tasting it, the flavor is somehow reminiscent of yaki-sale or gyoza dumpling skin!

This is my first Junmai type. I was very grateful to be able to sample it since they only sell 1.8 Junmai! The aroma is smooth, yet it smells like freshly cooked rice. The mouthfeel is silky and smooth, but soon after, a pungent taste gradually spreads to the tongue! It is less assertive in its umami than the Junmai Akagisan, and is more specialized in its dryness. However, as described, it has no habits and the taste has no waves, so it may be the best to drink it quickly while enjoying the punch of dryness during a meal..!

I wanted to visit the tasting machine corner once...! I was surprised to see that the layout of the sake area, including the tasting machines, has changed a lot! I had a cup of sake at "Iwo", which I don't often come across. It has a rich aroma like brown sugar. It has a robust, hard, dry impression on the palate. It has a strong umami taste with minerality and a dry, acidic, astringent center. However, it is not dull, and the cleanness and sharpness typical of Gunma sake can be felt, which is a quintessential Gunma quality!

Next is a special book type 🍶. When the bottle is opened and poured, the aroma is refreshing and slightly floral, like a pear. The mouthfeel is refreshing and clean, just like the standard honjozo type. However, it also has a slightly sweet umami taste, which is somewhere between honjozo and junmai in terms of experience. It gives the impression of being versatile in the sense that it can be enjoyed on its own or with food without getting tired of drinking it! With squid cartilage 🦑.

Today is my first trip to Gunma in a year! I'm here at Manza Onsen with a stopover at Asama Sake Brewery on the way. ♨️ The 100% source of the hot spring is the ultimate in relaxation and bliss...! After the hot spring, I decided to enjoy "Akagisan" (Mt. Akagi). When you open the bottle, the aroma is almost banana-like. The mouthfeel is clean and smooth, as is typical of the "Akagisan" series, but because it is a junmai sake, it has a full-bodied sweet and spicy acidic flavor. However, the flavor is not overly assertive, but rather gentle and smooth like a banana, so it can be enjoyed in good balance without losing the sharpness typical of "Akagiyama"!

It was hot today, so I opened a bottle of "Akagisan"! I can't tell you how many times I've mentioned the level of coolness, smoothness, and sharpness of this sake...! It's a level that even ordinary summer sake can't match. It's to the level where I want to put it in my water bottle and take it to work.

Uramaifu, which I drank last year and liked...! I found it again this year in limited quantities and was the first to get it after "Akagisan" ✌️ When I opened the bottle and poured it, there was a crisp green apple aroma. The mouthfeel is clean and fresh, and soon after, a gentle sweetness overflows! The combination of the beautiful sake quality & light acidity is typical of Gunma sake. The balance between the purity of the flavor and the freshness of the mouthfeel is superbly delicious! Smooth and gorgeous flavor similar to melon. The astringency that emerges from the depths of the mild sweetness and umami is directly connected to a good sharpness, making it easy to drink with a flowing pleasantness. It is a delicious and presentable Assassin's Mai-Kaze series, perhaps due in part to the small number of bottles available. I can't help but look forward to next year now ✨

Last sake I bought last year as a Kumamoto souvenir. If I have a chance to visit Kumamoto again, I would like to visit Aso and Kikuchi area 😌. When opened and poured, it has a sweet aroma like sugar and sugarcane. The mouthfeel is crisp and immediately afterwards has the plumpness of rice plus the sweet and spicy taste of brewer's alcohol. The flavor is stable from start to finish, with a delicious standard taste! The unadorned taste is a perfect accompaniment to a meal 👍. I would like to visit 4 unexplored prefectures (Kochi, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Okinawa), but there are many places I would like to revisit. 🗺️

Today, 666, this bottle was also opened! We have been laying it down for this day...! Spontaneously! The bottle opened with a nice sound. The aroma is sweet and refreshing, like rumminess, and the feeling of it slipping through the mouth is like a gentle breeze. The mouthfeel is light and gaseous. In addition to the beautiful transparency, the lactic roundness and sweet and sour taste come out from the back and sink deeply into the palate! Juicy like grapes. The balance of sweet, sour, spicy and bitter. The balance of roundness & sweetness, clarity & freshness. It is so exquisite that you can drink it in one sitting👍. I was thinking of opening a bottle of "Shinmasa" but this one was enough for me ✨. It's a perfect match for the devil 👹.

On June 6, 2024, I completed my sixth round of Japan. The last stop this time is Nagasaki Prefecture. I will be drinking summer sake from "Yokoyama", which I have not had for a long time! When the bottle is opened and poured, the aroma is of bananas and tropical fruits. The mouthfeel is soft, fresh, and crisp with a gasiness! The acidity adds a refreshing, yet juicy, mellow sweetness and deliciousness, just like tropical fruits ✨. However, in the latter half of the bottle, the clarity + astringency and the sharpness from the acidity come out, and it finishes lightly! Like the super spicy one we had before, it has a perfect balance of umami and sharpness👍. This is just after the 6th round, but actually the 7th round is already in its final stages. Until Okinawa's "Reimei" comes back, I will continue to enjoy it in the 46 prefectures!

The Maikaze series has been eagerly awaited this year! The first one is "Yu", the first prize winner of Maikaze Fair and the first one for the first time. When you open the bottle and pour it, the aroma is lemon and banana. The mouthfeel is round and fresh, as is typical of unfiltered drafts. It has a freshness, sweetness and acidity with a fruity and gorgeous aftertaste of astringency. It is bright and delicious, reminiscent of melon, lemon, or golden kiwi ✨. It is definitely the strongest in the Maifu series from a cosmetic point of view...! I think I will buy this again next year 😋.
