A gift from Sawanoizumi The Jun Dai I drank before was a Miyagi sake, beautifully light and dry, and I felt (selfishly) the earnestness of the toji (master brewer). I had an image of a modest, but firm, light, dry Kura. And then there is this special pure Sawanoizumi. It does not have much of a topping aroma, but the mouthfeel is surprisingly sweet and umami! It is sweet to the level of the Hitakami, and the robust umami is also very tasty! It has a light acidity and bitterness, followed by a refreshing sharpness. It's good! This is good! The price is relatively cheap, about 1300 yen for a four-pack, but it is convincing enough! Ishikoshi Brewery. I underestimated you. Sorry about that. Sake is so interesting because there are new discoveries even at the foot of the table like this! Thank you very much!

Honjozo 🍶 fresh stored sake✨ A good, albeit alsodense, taste. Dry aftertaste. Slightly bitter. Mild when paired with salmon. ☺️ Sweetness when paired with sea bream. It's delicious. Purchased at the HYOGO SAKE EXPO. The aroma is of aged aroma like Shaoxing wine. The hint of gunpowder-like aroma. I think it is clean and easy to drink for an aged wine. I thought it would be good to drink with fruits and sweets. The acidity is a nice accent. Perhaps because it is a daiginjo, it feels fruity even though it is an aged sake.

A souvenir from a business trip to Niigata. My colleague introduced me to Miyakoya and I bought it. It was a very tasty sake with the beautiful lightness and umami of Niigata. The bonito was also very nice and fatty, so it made for a good dinner.

Today is Valentine's Day!👩❤️👨 This Sake paired very well with the filet mignon I prepared for my wife. There is a full mouth feel with umami. There is a light smoke flavor and wood. The aftertaste is short.

Purchased with Tenryo sake cup at Okuhiroya in Kayashima. They stocked it because it was well received at a Saga sake tasting event held for sake retailers. Probably not normally available in the Kansai region. The rice is made from Hokkaido's Kitashizuku. I know Nabeshima also uses Kitashizuku. It has a beautiful sake quality for the rice polishing ratio. There is a slight sweetness, but it is also slightly thin and heavy. It also has a nutty taste. It tastes like nothing else.

Another bottle was opened at the Kizuna Festival. Golden crystal that saw the light of day at Izakaya Shinkansen. Gold Crystal label expressed with a characteristic figure. It is one of my personal favorite labels. The top-tasting aroma has a very classical sake flavor. The mouthfeel has a light umami from a hint of sweetness. First contact is lighter than expected. The finish is again full of sake-like aftertaste, with a mild acidity and a strong bitterness. I had imagined it to be a more mellow and stand-alone sake, but it is considered to be a high performance food sake. During the festival, I served it with tempura and dried scallops that I bought and brought with me, and it was quite good! Thanks for the food!

Tonight I'm having this one 🍶. I got this on my trip to Fukushima last month! I've been wanting to drink this since I saw it on Izakaya Shinkansen 🍶✨. They are the only sake brewery in Fukushima city😃. Mellow, refreshing, oicy❕. The aroma is slightly fluffy 💠. Slightly crisp but still mild 🌸🍶✨. This is a great one ❕. I'm glad I found you 😆. I also love the fukushima saké💗. It's very tasty.

Souvenirs from Shinshin SY Among several souvenirs, I chose this one intuitively by looking at the label. He brought three four-packs of sake as a souvenir, which is a generous gesture for a business traveler who travels all over the country. I would never have been able to do such a thing with my own pocketbook. When I pour it into the cup, it is more yellow than I expected! Is this a matured type? The aroma is slightly fruity, but has a bitter, mature aroma. The mouthfeel is crisp and dry, with a light sweetness and bitterness, and a moderate umami, but the maturing aroma in the aftertaste is unique. The light sourness and bitterness in the aftertaste are quite a tricky thing to pull off. This strange taste is not one of my favorites, but it is something that makes me want to drink it again. It reminds me of that strange feeling I had in junior high school when I used to prank cigarettes behind my back. It's a treat!

This is the first time I've seen this warehouse. The rice used is Maikaze. As the name suggests, everything, including the yeast, is from Gunma, and it seems to be an annual event. The mouthfeel is mild. It is bitter-sweet with a slight banana aroma. It gently finishes with a hint of umami. It seems to have a lot of depth. Well-balanced and cohesive sake. I️ would like to visit Funao Falls too!

After a few drinks, it was quite late, so I headed home while eating a golden dharma bento commemorating the 140th anniversary of Takasaki Station. I will close my Gunma trip with "Akagisan" and "Funao Taki"! Sweet and sugary aroma like sugar. The taste is smooth and silky, and while it has a Gunma sake-like quality, it tastes more like a sweet sake derived from brewer's alcohol. There is nothing outstanding about it, but it is a perfect match for ekiben (boxed lunches), with its unobtrusiveness, slight sweetness, and crispness!

This is one of the bottles that was sold in a set with Tobiroki at Hasegawa sake shop, it was made in October 2020, so I guess they used Tobiroki to clear this stock 😅. I'm not a big fan of the Satsuma Masamune, but I'm not a big fan of the Tobiroki either. I was a bit worried because it's a raw stored sake, almost a year after production, but there were no quality issues 😄. Rather, I didn't feel the peculiarity that I felt when I drank Junmai Ginjo before, and it tastes better than that time 🌟. It has a slight sweetness, a strong alcohol feeling and a spiciness that comes down the throat, not very distinctive but enough for everyday drinking. Cold sake is the best 😚
