I'm a sucker for heated yamahai/nama-hashiro sake. Tengumai, Daishichi, Hiraizumi, Gunma Izumi, Sairyu, Kasumitsuru, Hiokiizakura, Jyugyohi, Etsukaijin The list goes on and on. Among them, when it comes to sake, the most popular are Daishichi or Kui Ryu. Warmed up to hot, it will grip your guts and make you feel like you're in the middle of a hot meal. There are many brands of Niigata sake that are dear to my heart, notably Kubota, Takachiyo, and Sukibarizuru, but Tsururei is in a class of its own. This sake, which is not like Niigata sake, is full of the flavor of rice and has a profound sense of richness. My favorite Harukasumi. Junmai sake, probably for the local market. I like this kind of sake. It's hard to comment on how good it is. I took a vacation and came to Akita to visit. Akita is also known for Takashimizu. I bought some manjuu (steamed buns) and a cup of sake at a kiosk. It was one cup, but it was unfiltered pure rice.
