On my way home from the gym, I wandered down to my favorite sushi restaurant to refuel my shattered body. My plan was to have a beer to quench my thirst, but the bonito was so good that I ended up having some of my favorite Hidakami ultra-hot sake. As usual, it was spicy and tasty, nothing to complain about 😁. Today's bonito was, of course, the best of the season, and the Ishigaki clams were absolutely delicious. However, I forgot to take a picture of it, so the photo is of the isobe-roasted flat clams. They were delicious too!

I had a great holiday weekend, but the typhoon ruined it, so I decided to drink beer and take a nap from noon. I'm a useless person😅. Then I woke up feeling good, so I drank again. My favorite new brand of Kamo Nishiki, BRILLIANCE. Kamo Nishiki is recognizable from the standing aroma, a fresh green apple based aroma. The taste is soft and fresh, a stable Kamo Nishiki 😁. The sweetness is perfectly balanced with a hint of sourness and soft bitterness. The impression is that it is slightly higher quality and silkier than the packaged sake. It's good 😋.

On the first day of the holidays, my wife and children are back home and single, so today I have no choice but to drink. LOL! So I went to Ebisu for sushi and sake, the perfect holiday. I had a variety of dishes, but this Rokujyuyosu was the best pairing. It is crisp, spicy, and full-bodied. It was a perfect example of junmai sake. All of the food was good, but the abalone hanaburin sugar was too gorgeous to be considered a snack, and the sea bream nigiri was especially delicious. Another restaurant I would like to support 😊.

It's hard to go out to eat when it's this hot. So let's stay home and drink some summer sake! LOL! Tonight is a summer jungin from Yokoyama. The aroma is surprisingly rich, with a soft and thick fruitiness, and the impression remains the same on the palate. However, it has a good sharpness, and the acidity refreshes the palate, which is typical of summer sake. It has a rather strong flavor, so it might be good with ice on top. I will try it later.

The hot days continue. Summer drinking season has arrived. LOL! So here is a petit petit from OTOKOYAMA. It seems that they specially released it because not many Takagi sparkling sake were made. Mmmm, this is, stronger than microbubbles, just petit petit! The soft seme aroma is expected to be delicious even with ice. It is refreshing, but the slight bitterness, which is typical of nigori, gives it a three-dimensional flavor. I might want to have this as a regular summer drink 😊.

Today, too, I wanted to go to my favorite sushi restaurant, but it was too hot and I decided to have it delivered. I wanted to drink dry and refreshing, so I chose Bakuren. The aroma is modest, but the name and the mellow flavor come through in your mouth. It is also sharp and spicy. It finishes with a bitter finish and a slightly short aftertaste, giving the impression that it can be easily matched with anything. I think Bakuren is a really good sake that is reasonably priced even though it has become a major brand 😊.

On the middle day of a three-day weekend, I received a request for hand-rolled sushi from my family. LOL! I served with a bottle of Hidakami draft that I had stocked up on a little while ago. It is not a summer sake, but it was very refreshing and suited my mood 😁. I had the impression that Hidakami was dry, but this one has a soft and sweet taste with acidity at its core. It is very nicely integrated and seems to go with everything. The good thing about drinking at home is that you can drink slowly while mumbling about such things. Tonight I am going to get drunk in a relaxed manner.

Recently, I have been a little addicted to soba (buckwheat noodles), and I like to drink at a soba restaurant, pick something to eat, and finish with soba. Tonight, I chose a sake from Osaka, which I personally do not have much connection with. It is Junmai Akirika. It has a strong punch, as one would expect from Osaka. I thought it had a good balance of umami, acidity, and a bit of sweetness. I paired it with homemade Karaboku (Chinese ink). (I paired it with homemade Karaboku, which was so salty that I had to leave it out. I left it out because it was so salty.)

I heard that a nice sushi restaurant opened in my neighborhood. It has been a long time since I have posted here. The owner's choice was Bon, which is not a hard and spicy Junmai sake! It is not a hard and spicy sake, but a full-bodied and easy-drinking sake with a robust flavor of umami and sweetness. It is easy to drink with a full-bodied, umami-sweet flavor. The sense of seme in the overtone was distinctive. Now, the restaurant is nice. The ingredients are of high quality, as the owner purchases them from Toyosu every morning. However, I have a good feeling that he does not leave the ingredients up to the owner, and that he gives us delicious seasonal vegetables. Another restaurant I want to support has increased 😊.

I was curious about this restaurant, which is located far away from my house. It's rare, they have "Hana-yosu"! So I ordered it immediately. What's wrong? The pineapple didn't stand out much, but it was still fruity, sweet, and delicious. However, the sweetness was less than usual, and there was a little bit of bitterness and sourness. It seemed to have a well-balanced finish. Is it because it is a draft sake, so it is different from immediately after opening the bottle, or is it due to the character of Gohyakumangoku? Well, it tastes good either way. LOL! All of the meals were delicious, especially the seasonal hamo (pike conger) tempura, which was crispy, fluffy, and delicious. Thank you very much!

My wife requested roast beef, etc. tonight. So, after a long time, we had a bottle of Amego no Tsuki, which is surprisingly straightforward and dry, even though it is 100% Omachi. It is simple, but still has the profoundness of Omachi, and is very tasty.

I just picked up my kids, and they said, "I want to eat out!" I wanted to eat out! We were going to have a light meal at a local izakaya (Japanese-style bar), but it was Friday, so we decided to drink. I found a sake made from Kutouryuu, a rare sake from Hokkaido. It has a clean white grape-like aroma, a rounded flavor, and a slightly sweet but crisp finish that doesn't interfere with the food. I was not comfortable with drinking sake outside, but I was able to enjoy it without any problem because it was properly protected from oxidation with a vacu-ban. This is the kind of restaurant I would like to patronize.

It has been a while since I had a drinking session at home, and since the meal was Italian, I chose Kangiku's rumored rice polishing ratio of 29 BeyondC, thinking of a white wine. The aroma was a fine apple. I thought it would be just as I had imagined, but it was amazing from this point on. The umami of the rice is drawn out well. The acidity, umami, and sweetness are very well balanced. If I were to compare it to wine, I would say it has a sense of minerality. It is a new type of sake that is truly clear, yet has a certain drinking experience, and I don't know of any other sake like it. Frankly speaking, it's a bad boy that just goes down easy. LOL!

I had to run some errands in Shinjuku and had a cup of sake while picking up sushi. I told them I was in the mood for a dry sake, and the one that came out was Raifuku. It was a refreshingly dry sake that went well with the food. It has a sense of stability. The food was good, but a little stronger in general than I would have liked. The photo shows deep-fried bonito, which is rare & delicious. Also, the sea urchin was a no-brainer. Thank you very much!

The long holiday weekend is coming to an end, and tonight's last drink is Zenchidori by Nishida Shuzo, famous for its tazake (rice wine). I love Tazake, but this one is also quite good. It is not flashy, but it has a fine fruit aroma like melon, a ginjo aroma, a soft and thick mouthfeel, and a juicy, sweet and umami flavor, but it is also tangy, dry, and sharp. We went on a three-day, two-night excursion to Ito at the request of our family, who wanted to relax in a hot spring after a long absence. We had an original brand of sake, which is often found at hot spring resorts. It was a good old-fashioned honjozo sake, nothing to write home about 😅But with a rice polishing ratio of 65, it was still finished without any cloying taste. I guess I usually drink too much good sake based on the people at Sake-no-Wa. LOL!

Today is my son's 7th birthday. He was such a small boy, but he is growing up so fast. I feel happy and sad at the same time. On such a day, I thought it would be a good omen to drink a sake, so I decided to try Raifuku's Bouquet Assemblage. I could not detect the rumored flower yeast at my level. The gorgeous ginjo aroma raised my expectations. When I put it in my mouth, hmmm? Silence, no taste? Then, as if a flower blooms, dryness, acidity, umami, and sweetness all come at once. However, the taste is just like a royal fire-brewed sake. The image is completely different from the so-called Richebourg-like bouquet. It was different from my imagination, but I was betrayed in a good way and had a good sake.

How is everyone doing on the first day of the holidays? I am having a light drink as usual. I'm sure everyone read it as "Inui Shinichi" when they first saw it. LOL! The aroma of melon that rises from the moment the bottle is opened, is it surprisingly sweet and umami type? The taste is hard compared to the aroma. The mellow umami is followed a little later by sweetness and acidity. The umami comes back slowly to finish. I paired it with raw bonito and sea bream kombu-majime. Personally, my favorite fish are in season in spring, which makes sake more and more popular.

Saturday is training day at the gym, and I need to inject some energy into my hard-working body. And, it's been a while since I've had Koei Kiku. It's as crisp and tasty as ever! This Omachi is a little less grapefruity, but that's not a bad thing. The mid-part of this Omachi has a strong and powerful flavor. After a hint of bitterness, the flavor is quickly snapped off. It is a good sake that you will not get tired of drinking.
