Tenma Taishukai 2024 ④ The day before, I tasted Sakakamatsu from this brewery at a liquor store in Ikuno Ward. He asked me if I was going to the Tenma Sake Festival. I've been to this brewery and bought sake before. I think it was a brewery in Osaka, but closer to Wakayama and near a fishing port. I drank Junmai Ginjo Natsusei Nemuchi-san confirmed with the brewery that it was the same Sakakamatsu Natsusei that I drank the day before. Hmmm? When I drank it the day before, I had the impression that it was a summer sake with good flavor and drinkability, but something is different... Is it the temperature range? Today, following yesterday's Aizan drinking event, I went to the Osaka Bay Tower's Japanese sake festival event 😀. I was informed in advance by bouken-san that there was a sake that Saku-san usually does not have, so I made a toast with his wife with that sake 😇. The sake was even clearer and fruity than Saku's usual sake, and we were very satisfied from the start 😀. During the live taiko performance by three women, my wife and I, who are both learning taiko, were overwhelmed by their amazing performance 😇. We were able to compare over 130 different types of sake, but my favorite was from Yamazaru, a brewery located in Asa, Yamaguchi Prefecture 😇. From the aroma to the mouthfeel, it was right up my alley👍! I had a chance to talk to the brewer and asked him about the stores in the Kansai area that carry it.

Next was a Hiroshima sake called HANAHATO. It is a junmai ginjo made from 100% Senbon-Nishiki. The label is a rabbit, the Chinese zodiac sign for the New Year. The rice used is Omachi from Okayama Prefecture. It has a dark mouthfeel and a bit of maturity, but as the days go by, it becomes more rounded and changes to a level where even those who are not good at it can go. However, even though it has become more rounded and easier to drink, the sweetness and strength of the Omachi can still be clearly seen, so there will be different tastes. For me, it's a very interesting sake! The first day I opened the bottle, I thought it might be too peculiar to pair with a meal. However, from the second day onwards, while maintaining its richness, it gradually becomes lighter and lighter, and is not bad as a food sake. If you roll it around in your mouth, it is a nicely aged sake, but if you drink it with gusto, you can drink it without worrying too much.
