The other day, I saw Kazuhiko Ota drinking Furozumi on TV, and I wanted to drink it for the first time in a while, so my husband bought some at a local liquor store. The third drink at my favorite yakitori restaurant was Gizaemon Natsu-damon, which I had during a break in the drinking Shinsei. This is another summer sake from my favorite Mie sake that I was very curious about. The aroma is not so strong. It has an energetic taste with a tingling sensation when you put it in your mouth. It was a very tasty sake with a good balance of refreshing sweetness and bitterness ✨.

My wife has a slight taste disorder, but since she couldn't spend time at her parents' house 😊, we treated her to another New Year's meal 🎍. The wine to go with it was "Kyo no Hana" purchased at our favorite liquor store in Kushiro, Sagajo Shoten. I was torn between this and "Tatsusen" brewed by the same brewery, neither of which I had ever tasted before, but I chose this one because of the "fantastic rice" description 😊. Kyo no Hana No.1! There really are a lot of different sake rice varieties available: ‼️ It has a sharpness that is typical of Fukushima sake, but at the same time, it has a moist and gradually delicious flavor 😋.

Kyo-no-Hana from the sake bag I bought in Fukushima. It is sweet but not too sweet, so it is very tasty. Today I paired it with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), grilled hanpen cheese with mentaiko (cod roe), and ahi jio with nori (dried seaweed), all of which went very well together.

Sasasande - I'm still in the sasandei. A trophy of the Niigata expedition. Surprisingly, it tastes like a summer sake with a strong acidity. It is said to be made from 100% Kame-no-o with a 65% rice polishing ratio. I wonder if anyone can guess the type of rice by the masking. Someday I would like to say, "Oh, this is Omachi"...

Purchased at Ponshukan. It has a cute design that does not look like a cup of sake. The sake is brewed with four varieties of rice produced by four farmers in the Nishigama district, located in the far west of Niigata Prefecture. So that's what the grains of rice on the label mean. That makes sense. The sake was served cold in the cold sake corner at the store, so I chilled it well at home. It has a well-balanced taste, not too sweet or dry. It is easy to drink and delicious. Last weekend I was out of sake to go with oden, so I went to the local supermarket and bought a 300㎖ bottle for the sake. It has a sweet and refreshing taste. It's good at hiya, but it tastes even better when it's warmed up to human skin temperature to increase the sweetness. However, I thought it would be too clean to pair with oden. I chose this sake because I wanted to keep it light, but.... If I wanted to warm it up, I could have used a more robust Junmaishu or even Honjozo. I'm still learning💦.

On a trip to Shiga, I visited Hirai Shoten. The quaint appearance of the store and the display of products were a sight to behold. Today's bottle was the "Sake Brewer's 3003000 Year Old" (pictured left). The aroma is melon, apple, and pineapple, and the first sip is a punch. It has a mellow sweetness, but the acidity and bitterness make it crisp and refreshing. Delicious. Well, Shiga Prefecture was fun! I'm also looking forward to Kosetsu (I heard it's read as Fouche) on the right side of the photo 😄.
