The meat gift from my daughter arrived very late as a birthday present for my husband and I, who are three days apart 🎁. My son gave each of us a gift of our choice (alcohol for me again, this time liqueur 😅) It seems to be a local sake from Nagahama, Kita Omi, which is made of sake and blue herb 🌿 "Butterflapi" and represents the charm of Lake Oku-Biwako. I didn't have anything to go with the steak, so I went with this sake. It is a liqueur with little sweetness and a refreshing taste, but it was easy to drink as sake. It made me feel like my family was together even though we were not at the table.

I have an early summer vacation 😆. I enjoy going on historical trips, and this time I plan to go from Omi Nagahama to Kohoku and enter Kyoto from Saba Kaido (mackerel road). The hotel we stayed at is a buffet and you can drink all the Junmai you want from Kohama. It's a good deal. ‼️ is enough for a buffet 🤣It has a light sharpness and a slight bitterness. The best way to get the most out of it is to buy a new one. I am satisfied. The interesting thing about Omi is that there are amazing things on display in places that seem like they are nothing. This time, we visited Mikakaku, a facility that exhibits relics of Chishokuji (abandoned temple), which was amazing... 🥺Asai documents and Buddhist statues from the Heian period were all around. We made friends with the volunteer interpreter and stayed for 2 hours. The photo shows Kotani Castle and the bridge where Mitsunari Ishida is said to have been captured, as one of the volunteers told us.

At home. Sake tasting party with friends after a long time. We brought our own sake. First up was a local sake from Echigo-Yuzawa, a gem bearing the name of the first head of the Shirataki Sake Brewery. The aroma is gorgeous, and in the mouth you can taste the acidity and umami, with a slight lingering alcohol taste. It leaves a slightly bitter or rough feeling in the back of the throat. The Shirotaki Shuzo is known for its Kouzen Nyosui, which has a fuller aroma and taste compared to the Kouzen Nyosui. The bottle was also unusual, with an innovative volume of 630 ml. This is the first brand I've seen and the taste is great. ‼️

The sake that Rafa ordered. I exchanged it for the sake I ordered and drank some. The rice is said to be modified Nobukou. Unlike the straight kumi-style sake, it is calm and has a mild sweetness. It is more like a classic sake. The official website says it is about -7, so I think it is more on the sweet side. If you think of it as the standard sake of the brewery, it is quite high. It seems that Rafa has a connection with Satte City, where Toyoake's brewery is located, and I thought such an episode was interesting.

Toyoake in Satte, Saitama Prefecture. When I tasted it last week at Koedo Kurasato in Kawagoe, I felt its obvious individuality and immediately bought a 4-goupe bottle because I wanted to drink it at home. It is a fire-aged junmai sake with a slightly sweet, dark flavor and a modern acidity. It has character. The subtitle and the message on the back label are also good. The waka poem written on the box? on the box is also nice. The slight coloring is due to the limited amount of charcoal used in the filtration process.

Toyoake Junmai Ginjo. Domestic rice. Polishing ratio 60%. Sake made by Ishii Shuzo in Satte, Saitama. It has a mild ginkoku (gin aroma), and a flavor with a moderate thickness that spreads softly. It is brewed with a harmonious flavor in mind. It is a sake that does not lie in the introduction on the label. I enjoyed it on an autumn evening, well chilled. It is refreshing on the palate, but as you sip and savor it, the flavors come out more and more. I enjoyed it with rice miso, tsukudani (food boiled in soy sauce with plum and laver), and spicy oysters. It is a delicious sake.

This Sake is slightly dry with an earthy aroma. There are flavors of mushroom and wood. Sweetness and acidity are present towards the end. The flavor profile is different from other Niigata Sake I have tried. Guess I need to drink more Sake. 😁

Purchased at the Takashimaya Sake Festival. The one that impressed me the most after tasting several kinds of Kunihiki. It is sweet and fruity. It has a sourness like citrus. It is low in alcohol but very drinkable. However, I personally don't like the top flavor. I can't explain it well, but it smells sweet? I can't explain it well, but it smells like a sweet smell. After drinking it, it tastes fine, but I don't like the aroma when I put it close to my nose. It's difficult to describe... It might be quite tasty with meat as it says on the back 🤔.

Faint golden color with a grain aroma. Bitter, astringent, and acidic tastes overlap each other. If you expect the fruity and sweetness of a typical Junmai Daiginjo, you are way off. I drank it cold, but I might try warming it up. The Nishijin textile label is cool❗️.
