2024 Spring Evening - Tasting New Sake - 18Last. Yoshinotomo Junmai Ginjyo Nama Nama Sake Tominokou As I recall, it is a current sake with apple blossom yeast. I heard that there were 40 kinds of sake at this banquet, but only 18 made it to the end. Each brewer's brewing water was also offered as a Wakarimizu. We were fully entertained, thank you very much to the secretariat 😊.

The rice used is Yamadanishiki from the Sato Plantation in Sosa City. It is said to be free of chemical fertilizers and synthetic agricultural chemicals. The sweetness is moderate. The acidity is citrusy with a crisp, bitter taste. Overall, it is a refreshing summer sake. It is well-balanced and can be drunk easily. The yeast seems to be different from last year's, and judging from the other reviews, it may be a different one. (It's also possible that my taste buds are wrong...) If that's the case, I look forward to it every year! This year's was my favorite type❣️.

For the third day in a row, I bought sake from the brewery 😀. This is Mie-no-Kanbai from Maruhiko Sake Brewery, which we visited on our recent trip to Mie 😀. The day before this trip, we had our first taste of Mie-no-Kanbai at a Mie Sake drinking contest held at the hotel where we stayed 😅. When we visited the brewery, the toji (master brewer) was there and we asked him for a sweet and fruity sake that we like and he recommended this one, Daikan Shiborisake 😀. As soon as we opened the bottle, we were surprised to find that the aroma was more floral than fruity: ‼️🤣. The slightly sour and floral aroma reminded me of plums in full bloom, just like Mie Kanbai 😀. The taste in the mouth was not as floral as the aroma, but the elegant umami flavor took precedence and disappeared elegantly 😀. As I said, Mie's sake is of a high level 😇.

I visited a sake gathering event and was allowed to taste and purchase some sake. It is a bit precious because there are no distributors in the area where I live 😆. The aroma is mildly fruity. The mouthfeel is slightly fruity to malty and mellow, followed by a light bitterness that tingles the tongue and leaves a firm lingering taste on the nose. The description says it has a unique and addictive mellow flavor, and that is exactly what it tastes like. It is the kind of sake that makes you want another and another.

The aroma is fruity with a hint of sourness. The label says it is mellow and umaguchi, and while it is certainly umaguchi, it is characterized by its sharpness, leaving the impression of acidity and dryness in the aftertaste. It has a strong sense of transparency and is both mildly sweet and spicy, making it a good mid-meal sake. It has a wide strike zone for temperature, and can be served cold, of course, but it also shows its potential at temperatures that are close to room temperature.

Furusato Tax: Hakuro Taruzu Drinking Comparison (2) Drinking comparison of 2 bottles of Jun Daigin set of Hakuro Taruzu with the Furusato tax return gift from Tsuruoka city. ✌️ The second bottle is Rashinban, my personal No.2 brand from last year. Ordered again this year with Furusato tax return 😂. This is an ice-aged Jun Daigin made from the beautifully named Yuki-Onogami sake rice, polished to 33%. The top aroma is tropical fruit🥭 type. On the palate, the sweetness and umami are firm, but the finish is quick and curiously refreshing. The aftertaste is full of ripeness and spiciness, and the taste is delicious from start to finish.

A liquor store in Yamagata recommended this sake to me. I bought it because it's a Junmai Daiginjo made by polishing a rare type of sake rice called Yukimajin up to 39. The alcohol content is high, but the taste is refreshing, sweet and mild. It's rich with flavor but crisp after drinking it 🙂 It smells very fragrant and makes me happy😇

Bouken-san told me about it before, and I've become a fan of Watashibune's new sake 😚. But it's made with 100% short-stemmed Watashibune. I think this brand is as good as my favorite Genmai which I opened just before. The aroma is like a grape🍇, and in the mouth you can feel a very thin gas and a gentle sweetness. The aroma and taste are well integrated, and the transparent flavor fades out with a slight bitterness, which is brilliant 😆. Today I paired it with a yose-nabe with agaric broth, and the complex broth of the seafood and the flavor of this sake matched so strangely that I could really linger and eat and drink forever... It's still Monday, so I had to call it quits 😅.
