1811 2024/3 Nitoshi Junmai Manzai 70 Nama Junmai Namaisake Manzai 70% 16° 24/1 A+ Maruishi Brewery, Okazaki, Aichi 1800 2970 The first saké was a bit dry on the palate, but as you sipped it, the acidity and umami took over and the taste became more robust. It gives the impression of a deep sake that is neither simple nor light in a good sense.

1810 2024/3 KAWABU Upper Junmai Namaisake Orikagarami 65% MK-3 15° 24/3 A+ Mie Taki Town Kawabu Jozo 1800 3146 The aroma is gorgeous. It is sweet but does not linger so much that you will not get tired of drinking it. Serve cold while enjoying the contrast with other sakes.

1809 2024/3 Amanurin Special Junmai Sake Arabashiri Nama 55% 16° 24/3 A+ Yokkaichi, Mie Takahashi Shuzo 1800 4180 This is the first Amanurin in a long time, and one that we have not seen very often. It has a fresh flavor with a hint of sweetness on the first sip, and finishes with a light bitterness. The first sip was relatively light, but by the second day, the flavor had really kicked in and brought back memories of the delicious Amanomin with a sense of nostalgia. When I tried heating it up, the flavor remained the same, but softer. I felt like I was back on my home turf.

1808 2024/3 Kamirai Junmai Senbon-Nishiki Unfiltered Nama Sake 2023BY 100% Senbon-Nishiki from Hiroshima 65% 16-17° 24/3 A+ Miwa Shuzo, Kamishikogen-cho, Hiroshima 1800 3300 A rich, plump flavor with a pleasant acidity. It is a good, elegant and delicious sake that you will never get tired of drinking.

1807 2024/3 Miyamasugi Junmai Ginjo Namaishu 2023BY Hokkaido Comet 100 60% +6 1.5 MK-1 17° 24/2 A+ Mie Asahimachi Inagaki Sake Brewery 1800 3300 This year's jungin with comets. It has a light but soft and robust umami and a slight bitterness on the back end. When heated, it mellows out and remains refreshing. I have loved Miyamasugi since the time of its predecessor. Unfortunately, the brewery will be closed at the end of this season. I had heard about it before, but it is still sad to see my favorite sake go. Among the many brands of sake from the local sake brewery I first started visiting about 30 years ago, this sake was my favorite along with Tohokuizumi, Sazanami, and Tennyurin. I used to buy it whenever I found it. Some sake is treated as a premier sake, but behind the scenes, many breweries are disappearing... I wonder if it is tough for truly rare sake like Miyansugi to survive.... Side note: I noticed again when I looked at the brewery's address that I used to walk to a place just a short distance from the brewery many times on business... If I had known then, I would have stopped by the brewery.

1806 2024/3 Takaraiya Dry special junmai sake 2023BY Home grown rice Koji:Yamadanishiki Kake:Hinohikari Koji 50% Kake 55 +10 1.4 Association No.9 16.8° 24/2 A Oita Bungo-Ono City Hamashima Shuzo 1800 3300 This is the first Takaraiya in a long time. It is not so much dry as it is refreshing and light. When we tried it warmed up, it tasted softer, so we alternated between warmed and cold sake in the second half.

1805 24/3 Yuri brewing Junmai Ichibanzake Junmai Unfiltered Nama-shu 2023BY Yamada-Nishiki 100 70% -3 2.0 Association No.9 17° 23/10 A+ Oita Hita City Inoue Shuzo 720 1999 This is the first time I have seen this brand. It seems to be from the Kakunoi brewery. I tried it because it is only a four-pack. It is a little sweet but has a strong umami taste, which is nicely complemented by the acidity. It is rich but does not linger, leaving only a mild flavor in the aftertaste. This is delicious.

1803 2024/2 Fukusuku Junmai Nao Kumi Unfiltered Nama Sake 100% Hokkaido Comet 55% 16° 24/1 A+ Chiba Kimitsu City Tohei Shuzo 720 1595 I went to Choshi the other day and enjoyed a bottle of Fukushuku (Junmai?) at a local sushi restaurant. I went to Choshi the other day and had a taste of the Fukusuku (Junmai?) sake at a sushi restaurant there. It tasted fresh like new sake, and the acidity complemented the rich flavor that reminded me of the time when I drank it... delicious. The label was unusual, so I looked it up.

1800 2024/2 Yamazaru Yamazaru from flowers Junmai Ginjyo Shinshu Yamadanishiki 55% -5 Association yeast 1901 15° 24/1 B Nagayama Shuzo, Sanyo Onoda-shi, Yamaguchi 1800 3300 I assumed that the new sake was a draft sake... and after taking a sip, I realized that it was. I regretted my lack of attention as I thought I had chosen the raw sake after wondering about the other fire-aged sake. I could taste the astringency behind the aroma and quite a bit of sweetness (-5 when I checked later). I felt it was a little unbalanced when heated, but when cooled, it became soft and refreshing. I have been alternating between warmed and cold sake ever since.

1799 2024/2 Kamiwatari Shiboritate Junmai Shinshu Junmai Namaeshu 2023BY Hitogochiki from Nagano 65 +1.3 1.2 17° 23/11 A+ Nagano Okaya City Toyoshimaya 1800 2970 This is the first Kamidori I've had since I bought it 27 years ago in Okaya. It is fresh and a little sweet on the lees, with a rich, umami mouthfeel. It is fresh on the lees, a little sweet, rich and umami, but it doesn't drag so you can drink a lot of it. It is delicious warmed up, too.

1798 2024/2 Yamazan Junmai Ginjo Nama Shu Hitogochi Gowari Gofubu light nigori 2023BY 100% Hitogochi produced in Yaehara, Tomi-city, Nagano 55% 15° 24/2 A Ueda City, Nagano Yamazan Shuzo 1800 3080 This is the brewery of Sanada Rokubun Sen, which was purchased in Ueda City a long time ago. The brewery was closed for a while but seems to have restarted last year. It has a mild flavor, a slightly sweet and soft taste, and a moderate astringency on the back end. I tried it heated, but it lost some of its crispness, so I kept it cold until the end.

1797 2024/2 Raifuku Coming Happiness Extra Bottle Junmai Unfiltered Nama Sake 70% +2 1.9 Sakura yeast 17° 24/1 A Chikusei-shi, Ibaraki Raifuku Shuzo 1800 3190 It's been a long time since I've tasted Raifuku. At first I was put off by the label, but since it has a 17% alcohol content, I gave it a try. The aroma is exactly as the label says, and the taste is a robust, umami mouthfeel supported by the acidity. The aroma is impressive, so I tried heating it up, but the aroma remained the same. It's delicious, but I'm not sure I'd like it with the food...

1796 2024/2 Matsumidori Junmai Nama-no-Harajiku Shiboritate 2023BY 100% Miyamanishiki from Nagano 55 Association No.9 17-18° 24/1 A+ Nakazawa Shuzo, Matsudacho, Kanagawa 1800 3190 Mild but refreshing flavor typical of new sake. At first it seems dry, but as you drink it, the mellow flavor develops and you can feel the strength of the original sake. When we tried heating it up in the latter half of the bottle, it became softer and more enjoyable.

1795 2024/1 Tsuchida Shin Tsuchida Junmai-shu 2021BY Namo yeast, yellow malted rice for shochu, no yeast added Gunma rice 90% 16° 23/10 A+ Kawaba-mura, Gunma Tsuchida Shuzo 1800 3560 The bottle has been left at room temperature for more than two months since it was opened. It had a slight lees accumulation like cotton snow, and when I tasted it, I found a much richer flavor. I enjoyed it warmed between various new sakes. I appreciate this kind of sake.

It has a dry but mellow taste with umami. It is a delicious and drinkable sake.

It is a little sweet but does not linger at all. It has a good balance of umami and acidity and goes down very smoothly. I wish I had a 1-sho bottle...

1792 2024/1 Kidoizumi Hanafukuyuki Tokonono-Nigori Junmai Nama-nihonjacu 2023BY Activated Nigori 60% naturally grown rice (Hanabukiyuki) from Hirosaki, Aomori 16° 23/12 A+ Chiba Isumi City Kidoizumi Shuzo 720 1650 First Kidoizumi in a long time, and first active sake. After 15 minutes of trying to loosen the cork, the bubbles did not settle down and the food got cold, so I gave up on it and carried it over to the next day. The next day, after another 10 minutes or so, we finally opened the bottle. It was quite thick and cloudy, but the lees were smooth, and it was soft but quite dry. It is soft but quite dry. It tastes quite straightforward for a Kidoizumi.
