Sake and mackerel sushi
I went back to my parents' house from Friday night to yesterday. The purpose was to attend Noriyuki Makihara's 35th anniversary concert. The day before the concert, October 25th, was the anniversary of his debut in Osaka, Maki's hometown, so I really wanted to go. I know someone who understands, right? You don't want to put it on resale, do you?
Since the night was booked, and since it takes 2 hours from my parents' house to Osaka City Hall, I could hardly do anything else, so I had mackerel sushi in the gap. Saba Sushi is one of my five favorites at my favorite restaurant in Kawaramachi. I went for Oroku because it is available for lunchtime drinking. I know the portions are small and the price is high, but I wanted to relax at least when I was eating.
The portion is small, so I eat it in small portions. The bitterness is strong, so I think this was the best way to drink it. The vinegar in the mackerel sushi is sweet red vinegar, but it goes perfectly with the soup stock in the mushroom noodle soup. It was delicious 🩷.
The third one is an autumn-only parfait I had at Pierre Marcolini in Osaka. This one was delicious too 🤎.
Cho-Oroku (Shimane) Junmai 60% Hon Nama
Oh-Roku Brewery is a small sake brewery located in Shimane Prefecture. The brewery is not open to the public, and the sixth generation brewer, Mr. Takeki Ishihara, is stoic in his approach to sake brewing.
The sake is made in its natural state, without filtration or heat treatment, and is thoroughly controlled at a negative temperature.
The sake is dry, refreshing, and maintains a beautiful acidity.
With Umaki Tororo

The initial aroma is calm, fruity, and astringent, like red grape skins.
In the mouth, it has a mild sweetness, umami from rice, and a fruity aroma like red grapes. After that, the astringency and acidity are felt, and it finishes quickly.
When heated, the aroma becomes more mellow, and the sweet aroma of rice is soft and gentle.
In the mouth, there is a soft sweetness and a mild astringency with a tartness that is like the skin of red grapes.
It tastes great when heated and gives a relaxing taste.
Today's sake is a little bit unusual - it's from Shimane Prefecture, called "Oroku" 🤗Kanji is so hard to read!
I know the name of this sake, but it's been on my list to try someday. ☺️
The first aroma is gentle and reserved, but that impression changes completely when it hits the palate! The rich umami and acidity spread out in a blur! While the alcohol content of 17.5 can be felt, the lingering aftertaste is surprisingly beautifully clean... I was surprised... It was different from other sake I have ever had, and I felt I caught a glimpse of the true essence of sake backed by the solid popularity of the brand!
Thank you for the sake!
Wakata, nice to meet you and thank you for your comment 😊I didn't expect to get 5 stars for my first king's stipend, which is fortuitous 🤗I'm sure the other flavors must be delicious as well, judging from the perfection of this one 😆.
Super Oroku and Nigori Oroku
It was quite dry, and I felt a little short of flavor since I had been drinking umami-filled drinks recently.
I guess this one is delicious in its own way, though.
