Here is the second bottle I brought to the gathering for the Tamagawa Fireworks Festival. Since there were a lot of wine drinkers in the mix, I chose something that was as easy to drink as possible and not too sake-like. It was light and refreshing at 13% alcohol by volume. I feel comfortable recommending it to sake beginners. However, my husband and daughter, who have enjoyed many kinds of sake on a regular basis, declared that there was nothing peculiar about it 😆. Next time we drink sake at home, we will have to prepare a very good sake that we like 🤭.

I bought this bottle at "Gunma Iroha" at Takasaki station in July. It's a summer sake, but I didn't have a chance to open it, and I was in a hurry because it was autumn. Last night I managed to bring it to a summery event, the Tama River Fireworks Festival ❗️, and opened the bottle 😆.  It spilled a little, but when I drank it, it was mildly effervescent. It has a silky touch and a light fruity feeling, somewhere between melon and apple. Not too sweet, not too heavy, easy to drink.  Since Tanigawadake, which I drank last time, was of a type that goes well with Japanese food, I expected a more sake-like taste, but this one goes well with both Japanese and Western food. It is also OK with potato chips and nuts.  It was delicious, but I think it would be better to drink it on a hotter day to get a more refreshing taste. ⁉️ Summer sake should be drunk in summer (a little reminder).

My usual liquor store had a spirited display of yogurt, grapefruit, and lemon from this series, so I grabbed a bottle of lemon, which I had not yet had. It's not too sweet, and the 5:5 soda is easily delicious 😋 Tatenokawa's online store also has Yama Sauvignon, Blueberry, Pineapple, Momo, Momo ......, and more. I wonder which one I will encounter next. ⁉️ I have more to look forward to.

Nukadaira Gensengo Dokkomi Sake (2) This sake is a limited edition sake of Kitano-Nishiki. This is the first time I have tasted a sake made with rice called "Ginpu". It is fruity, but not overly floral and mild, perfect for simple dishes with local vegetables. ❗️ It goes well with meat, fish, and cheese alike ✨. It is a sake from a region where dairy farming is very popular. It is amazing that it also goes well with cheese 😍 In Obihiro, raclette cheese, cured ham, cured mozzarella, etc. are commonly served as appetizers and side dishes, so I guess it is normal that it goes well with dairy products as well as Japanese side dishes. ⁉️ Wonderful ❣️ Thanks for the treat 😋.

At Kuwabara Shoten, a nice corner store in Gotanda, I requested "something refreshing like wine, but not too sweet." He recommended this one, saying it was unique but up front. It is said to be aged in red wine barrels, but it goes far beyond the aroma of wine barrels and is like a superb cocktail. It tasted like a dry martini. Interesting: ❣️

Nukadaira Gensenkyo Bring Your Own Sake (1) We stayed at Nakamuraya in Nukadaira Onsen for 3 nights in a row with 3 bottles of different types of local sake from Hokkaido selected by Kumada Shoten in Obihiro City, bringing in a 4-pack a day and enjoying a happy meal every night with a humble side dish of local ingredients as a snack 😃. This one is gorgeous, fruity and slightly sweet. The aftertaste is elegant and clean, so it can be easily matched with any dishes such as local chicken, rainbow trout, wild vegetables, potatoes, etc. ‼️ The flavor spreads more if it is slightly chilled. The name comes from the fact that Hokkaido used to be divided into 11 states. A long time ago, Hokkaido was behind in new approaches to sake, and lagged behind the local sake from other parts of Japan. So they launched this brand in an attempt to create a delicious sake. It is indeed a modern sake that complements fresh ingredients. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I recently found "Genzai" at my favorite bar, which I had been curious about, so I had a drink. It starts off with a restrained sense of fruity flamboyance and freshness, with an unrecognizable acidity and bitterness, and finishes with an elegantly balanced, light finish. It is the type of wine that goes down your throat with a swoosh. There is no cloying taste at all, so it would go well with fried food in kaiseki cuisine or something like that. ❗️ If I were to drink it at home, I would pair it with lightly oil-fried simmered dishes when it gets a little cooler. I agree with its popularity 😋.

The last of the Shimosuwa Onsen bulk purchases (6) The liquor store in Shimosuwa Onsen that sold the largest variety of sake was "Suiro". I had a hard time deciding between Yamae-nishiki and Miyama-nishiki, but in the end I decided to go with Yamae-nishiki. I was torn between Yamae-nishiki and Miyamanishiki, but in the end, I decided to go with Miyamanishiki, which I prefer! After a series of ramen-like summer sakes recently, it's been a while since I've tasted a Miyamanishiki that has a rich, mild sake-like flavor and a slightly floral, elegant taste. It happens to be hot tofu tonight, so it goes well with ❗️ even the "soy milk udon" after the tofu melts in the pot! Oh it was delicious, thanks for the treat 😋.

I was on my way home by JR from Mizukami Onsen, and took advantage of the 20 minutes I had to wait for the Shonan Shinjuku Line to transfer to the Shonan Shinjuku Line to carry two bottles of Gunma fresh summer sake at "Gunma Iroha" in the Takasaki Station Building 🎒.  The first bottle, which I chose on a hunch from among more than a dozen varieties kept refrigerated, "seems to go with everything" and "can be drunk on the rocks," is this one with a cute dog illustration of Akagi Mountain. As I had hoped, it goes with everything on the rocks, from home Chinese to Japanese side dishes👍. Lightly rummy, not too sweet, light and gentle, with a light rice flavor ‼️ It's another very hot day today, perfect for a weekend dinner in the air-conditioned living room✨. According to an online search, some people are looking forward to this summer limited edition sake, and I found a really good summer sake 😊 Thanks for the treat 😋.

First time in a long time to drink at a popular bar 🍺 Full selection of craft beers ❗️ Super attractive selection of sake as well, although only 4 cold sake ❗️ Of course the izakaya food is delicious ‼️ A great bar just a few minutes walk from Nishikoyama station in Shinagawa-ku! I've never been to Chiebijin before, but I went in through the back 😆 The first sip was too sweet? The first sip was a bit too sweet, but once it passed the throat, it was very refreshing and clean. I love ogara-mi, so the freshness of the raw sake and the mattari feeling added to it makes it easy to drink from the second sip. I only drank one glass because we were going out, but if I were drinking it at home, I would like to pair it with some sweet boiled fish. I must drink Omote's Chiebijin properly somewhere 🤭.

Shimosuwa Onsen collective purchase⑤. It is the first time to grow up in the snow in Daisetsuken. It is said that it is stored in a snow room and matures slowly, further deepening its fruity flavor. When you drink it, it really has a deep umami taste. ❗️ It is not "umami" right after you drink it, but quietly delicious after it passes through your throat. ‼️ It is a step back in taste and you will unconsciously drink it repeatedly. I want to keep drinking it at a local izakaya while eating local food normally❣️ It's called "mountain sake," and it's a sake that accompanies mountain foods in a humble way. Thanks for the treat 😋.

Hi Jay & Nobby. If you want to visit sake breweries around Suwa, Kamisuwa is the place to go, but if you want to stay overnight, Shimosuwa is definitely the place to stay ❗️ You can enjoy drinking and eating at a Nakasendo inn town that has not yet been discovered by visitors to Japan✨.

Shimosuwa Onsen bulk purchase (4) A slightly expensive bottle of my favorite Toyoka (when I say expensive, it's about 2,400 yen for a 4-goupe bottle, so it's not really expensive, but really a little expensive 😆) The balance that is typical of Toyoka is more elegant. I tried pairing it with various tsumami at home, but fresh sea urchin didn't go with it, nor did cheese or olive oil Western-style side dishes, so what I ended up with was a side dish carefully cooked in dashi broth. Just fresh boiled vegetables with "walnut miso" bought in Shimosuwa fit the bill. It is a beautiful sake that is typical of Japanese sake that makes the most of quiet Japanese side dishes. It is exquisite on the day of opening the bottle, and after a few days, a slightly sweet taste comes out in the front. Ahh it was delicious ❗️ Thanks for the treat 😋.

This year's first summer sake is Imayoshi's Fu-ring. Attracted by the cool, summery label, I purchased it at a somewhat particular food supermarket that I sometimes visit. It has a refreshing, rummy taste. It goes well with a wide range of dishes, from Western-style home-style dishes to junky snacks such as Bonchi's deep-fried senchi. Tonight I am serving oven-baked chicken thighs with soy sauce, garlic, and olive oil. I'm going to pair it with a butter sauce, but of course it goes well with it. ❣️ Cold sake is good, but also delicious on the rocks: ‼️ Summer sake season has begun in earnest 🎐. According to the Imayoji HP, it is also recommended to mix 1:1 with carbonated water and squeeze lemon. I'll try it tomorrow😄.

Shimosuwa Onsen collective purchase (3) This is an apple liqueur from Yokobue-san of Suwa Gokura. When I visited Yokobue-san's brewery before, I enjoyed their junmai sake plum liqueur but regretted recklessly not taking it home 🥲. This time, I found Yokobue's apple liqueur at a liquor store in Shimosuwa, so of course I immediately decided to try it✨. It's a lightly sweet apple liqueur ‼️, but if you get carried away and guzzle it, the aftertaste leans toward junmai sake 🤭. I make shochu plum wine every year at home, but apparently junmai sake plum wine tends to go bad at home. It must be more difficult to make apple wine with such a low sweetness. I'll second the modest taste: ❣️ Thanks for the treat 😋.

Shimosuwa Hot Springs Collective Purchase (2) At a liquor store in Shimosuwa Onsen, there were so many brands to buy, that I narrowed it down to two Mikotsuru from a local sake brewery, one of which was "Gohyakumangoku, unfiltered, raw, dry sake" â It may be dry among Mikotsuru's sake, but it is sweet and fruity enough to be Mikotsuru's sake 🤭. Of course, it is a great Mikotsuru world, but I'm sorry, my family prefers the balance of sweetness, acidity and freshness of "Hitogokochi Unfiltered Unrefined Nama Sake" from the previous check-in 😋. That said, it is a beautiful sake that will elevate our weekend home-cooked meals 😊 Mikotsuru's Unfiltered Nama Sake is truly wonderful ✨ Thank you for the meal.

Shimosuwa Hot Springs Collective Buying (1) We went to Shimosuwa hot spring after watching the movie "The Land of the Deer" and wanted to visit the four Suwa shrines. Speaking of Shimosuwa, it is "Mikotsuru" ✨ It is a promise of our family to buy 6 bottles in bulk from the trip, but this time all of them are raw sake that needs to be refrigerated. ❣️ It is perfect with the <mellowness> and <fullness> that is typical of "Hitogokochi." ‼️ You can get the hi-ire version at a liquor store near my home, but there is a big difference between hi-ire and nama-zake. The freshness and fruity taste of nama-zake is really wonderful😍. My daughter, who has tasted almost every bottle of sake we drink at home, raves that it is her favorite so far 😊 There were so many brands we wanted at the Shimosuwa Onsen liquor store that we had to limit Mikotsuru to 2 bottles in tears, but oh, I still wish we had bought 6 bottles at once at the brewery 😍⁉️ Anyway, I love it ❤️ Thanks for the treat 😋.

This is my first Naruto Tai. I have never had the standard Naruto Tai, but judging by the tropical style label, is it a heretical Naruto Tai? The recommended snacks are squid sashimi, pickled avocado and tuna, sauteed chicken, and garlic butter shiitake mushrooms, according to the label on the back, so I wondered if this was a new type of flavor. I bought it. It certainly goes well with any type of food 😊 Actually, I opened a bottle for an after-dinner snack, but it also goes well with mayonnaise okaki and wasanbon sugar cookies. ❣️ It is not the sweet fruity type that has been increasing recently, but is rich in acidity and aroma, with a clean aftertaste that does not leave a residue. Cold sake or on the rocks is recommended. Thank you for the treat 😋.

This is a mild spring sake brewed with Dewa Rinne. On the first day, I thought the sweetness was a bit over the top, but from the second day, it became moist and settled down, with a beautiful sweetness and a gentle aftertaste that softly kicks in. It is difficult to match it with strong flavors, but it is perfect with gentle Japanese side dishes such as cooked vegetables, egg rolls, tofu dishes, white fish, etc. ‼️ It was exactly the kind of spring sake that Eiko Fuji made to match the Japanese spring ✨🌸 It was very tasty, but if I had wanted, it would have been more seasonal if I drank it in March or April when it was still chilly 😆 The timing of drinking spring sake is also important 🤭.

This is my first Tanigawadake and it is the first sake of this brand. It is a very refreshing food sake. It goes well with soy sauce mirin flavored home prepared dishes cooked in dashi soup stock. ‼️ No olive oil or mayonnaise based Japanese/Western flavors. It is definitely a Japanese side dish. ❣️ The best match among them is Uruume ✨ from western Japan! The clean flavor is perfect for the salty taste of Uruume. Sake that goes well with Japanese side dishes is the basic form of sake. Thank you for the meal 😋.

I've been flirting with "Awamori from Okinawa" and "Imojochu from Kyushu" for a while, so it's been a while since I've posted here. I've been flirting with "Okinawan Awamori" and "Kyushu Imojochu" for a while. I like Gassan's innovation 😋 They are a sake brewery that makes traditional sake, so they are also good at brewing new flavors: ❣️ This time, it's low al 11 degrees. It has a delicious combination of rice flavor and fruity taste, which I can safely recommend to sake beginners. It goes well with slightly Western-style Japanese side dishes like "yuzu pepper dressing" and "peanut basted salad ✨ It's the perfect first drink at home 😋.
