The sake we drank at the turn of the Bon vacation was Kubota Senju. Kubota is a light and dry sake that is perfect for pairing with the sashimi we bought, and its sharpness makes it a perfect mid-meal drink. It doesn't have the fruity taste of the modern sakes, but I like that it's just like a Japanese sake 😀. ★★★★☆

Obon vacation is for drinking with my brother and his wife 😀. We first opened a bottle of Yamasan's light nigori to go with sashimi and other dishes. Hitogokochi's sweet and sour taste is nice in the hot summer time with a cool crisp feeling like green apple 🍏! It has a sharpness to it, so it goes well with food. ★★★★★

Last night I sang too much Southern at the karaoke on the eve of the 60th birthday party and my throat hurt 🤣. The last one is Shinsei's Flax Cat Kai. It has been a long time since I drank Shinsei, and my expectations were high because I had never had a flax cat before. Hmmm 😑. I know it's sweet and sour, but it's more sour than sour ❕. And the sweetness that lingers in the mouth is not my favorite at all 😭⤵⤵⤵. This is my first Otters! A gift from my nephew 😀. It is a Junmai Daiginjo, so the sweetness of the rice without any cloying taste stands out in this bottle. We had it with kabayaki on the day of the ox in the dog days. I would have preferred a drier taste for the shiroyaki, but it was a perfect match for the rich taste of the kabayaki, and the rich taste of the kabayaki was not overpowered and the deliciousness of the rice stood out ❕🥰. The sashimi also went well with the fatty medium fatty tuna and yellowtail sashimi. ★★★☆☆☆

Today's snacks are sashimi and dried hokke (hokke is a dried fish), so I took this out of the fridge, which I bought at Echigo Yuzawa station on a ski ⛷️ trip in February. I used to drink Kouzen Nyosui whenever I went skiing, and I have the impression that it is really as light and dry as water, just like its name. When I drank it, it had a sweet lychee-like aroma and mouthfeel that was firmly in the modern style. I'll give it a try 🤭. First Nagano business trip in months🏢🚄. Let's go to Nagano for the first time in a while to bathe in Nagano's sake 🤭. Kawanakajima Genmai to go with the horse sashimi! The aroma is gorgeous and sweet like muscat 😀. When I drank it, I was surprised at how refreshing it was 😍⤴ Just like the aroma, the balance between the elegant sweetness and crispness like muscat 🍇 is perfect ❕🥰. It's also a great match for the fat from the horse sashimi, which is easily washed away! ★★★★★

I went to Kanagawa for a visit, so I thought I'd buy some local sake 🤗🤗. The aroma is not that spectacular, and the taste is just like a Japanese sake, with a punchy mouthfeel at 16 degrees. It goes well with Misaki's local fish sashimi, but also with strong flavored dishes such as simmered tuna. It does not have the modernity of today's sake, but it is my favorite type of sake. We will have it with tempura on the last day of GW. It was a souvenir from my brothers' visit to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and I let it sit for a few months. 🤭 It's delicious with a sweet rice taste and a punchy sharpness, as only sake can be 😋❕. It's not a modern sake with a gorgeous aroma, but I quite like this type of sake. I think it would be delicious heated up. This sake was made by Tomikiku Shuzo, the brewer of Haneya. ★★★★☆

And last but not least, Niigata, a rice-producing region... 😆 First time to drink this brand! The name "Yobitomo" is also a good name to call friends 🤗. This sake also has a good overall balance and a taste like a deeper version of Mimuro Sugi, which is also on my favorite list. I realized later that this sake is made by Asahi Shuzo, the same company that makes Kubota. ★★★★

Let's go to Fukushima next time 😀. Tobiroki ❕🥰, a typical sake from Fukushima, a rice-producing region. It's a special junmai sake just like the first one. I've had a different sake from Tobiroki before, but it's just so well-balanced 🤩. It is a very tasty sake with depth of flavor, not too sweet or acidic, but not too sweet or too acidic, but not too sweet or too acidic, but not too acidic or too acidic.
