Slurp kaa - tongue tingling. Alcohol content 21 degrees! I bought it on the way home from overtime work. Kikusui Shuzo has been a customer of mine for the Kikusui Funaguchi Ichiban Shibori, which is available at convenience stores and supermarkets before I started using Sake No Wa. I remember that it was a pioneer of canned raw sake. Thanks to this technology, we now have more opportunities to offer unpasteurized sake to the world, and I think this is an immeasurable achievement in the sake world. I could go on and on, but according to the label, this sake is classified as a "liqueur". At any rate, I'll note in my memorandum that it was a sweet and dangerous drink.

A 1-goupe bottle that I had gotten at Yamada-san, a sake dealer in Ikebukuro Seibu. I check the small refrigerator near the cash register, which is mainly small bottles, every time I go there. It is Kamerei Mannen from Hiroshima🐢. The classical texture gives it a ginjo-shu feel.

Sasanogawa Junmai 58% 15%, 720ml, 1430 yen It is labeled Junmai but is 58% polished. The acidity is strong. This is what orthodox acidity is supposed to taste like. After the acidity comes an edgy dryness like a horse coming from behind. However, there seems to be some unique peculiarities, and depending on the day you drink it, it may bother you a little. I heard it won an award for lukewarm sake, but I should have tried heating it up to emphasize the peculiarity and find out what caused it. Rating 3.8 (out of 5.0) 20240501

Sasanokawa 35-year old sake, Junmai 60% 17%, 500ml, 5000 yen We went to a brewery in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture. It was a beautifully renovated and stylish space. There was a sign that said "Milan Sake Challenge", a double gold medal winner, which I don't know what it means. The sake was a dark color, almost black. It is rare to see such a color. It does not have the strong smell of old wine and does not have a bad smell. It is a very thick and thick sake, almost like Shaoxing sake. It has a very deep taste and is quite delicious. I would like to have a cup of sake while listening to Akari Machi's "My Birthplace is Koriyama". When I thought about what I was doing 35 years ago, all I could think of was ping pong dash. Thirty years ago, when I was a student, I went on a ski trip to Nozawa Onsen organized by a senior student. My memory is a little fuzzy, but I remember that a liquor store (Nagano store?) near Juonoyu was selling a set of three mini bottles of Unzan for 800 yen as a souvenir. Each bottle was no more than 1 gou, but it was a set of 3 bottles: Honjozo, Junmai Ginjo, and Harazake. I compared the sake for the first time with my skiing buddies. I compared them for the first time with my skiing buddies and found that my favorite was the Harazake. (I bought three boxes of it on my way home from a ski trip (lol). After that, I had several encounters with Unzan, and each time I bought a bottle of the original sake. This time, I was able to buy a fresh bottle that was only about a week old (although it has been open for about 2 weeks now). It has a slight effervescence. The mouthfeel is light and does not give the sensation of being a very strong sake. It has a mild lingering aroma. It is a very tasty sake.

Two years ago 🚗 I visited Minami Haga, a roadside station near a sake brewery, and checked in 😅I bought a mini bottle of Banshu Ichiken and a bottle of Old Pine Sake Brewery's Sansho as a souvenir. Sanyo Bai Sake Brewery and Old Pine Sake Brewery are almost across the street from each other, about a minute walk away, so I recommend you visit both of them 😊. The Sansho is a regional brand 😃👆👆 Like the Banshu Ikken, the Sansho Junmai Ginjo is also made with Hyogo Yume Nishiki sake rice. Maybe it would have been better to warm it up 🧐. Souvenirs from a trip to see the autumn leaves at Momijiyama in Yamazaki, Shiso City. Currently, there are two remaining sake breweries in the city, Sanyo Sake Brewery and Old Pine Brewery, but until 40 years ago, there was another brewery, Honke Monzenya, which brewed and sold a type of sake called sansho (three laughs). The building of the Honke Monzenya still remains, but in order to make the most of the historical landscape where sake breweries line up from Sanyo Bai to Laematsu and Honke Monzenya, The Yamazaki Central City Area Revitalization Committee (Good Town Project) was formed, and over a period of two years, "Sansho" was revived! There is a café called "Sansho" on the former site. Let's start with the old pine tree.

I had wanted to drink it for a long time, but the timing was never quite right... The manager said it was his favorite drink in the restaurant! It is a pale yellow color with silver tints and a hint of green. It has a spicy top note with a hint of alcohol, but the aroma is very refreshing, perhaps because of the acidity. When you drink it, the slightly carbonated texture on the tongue is pleasant. There is not much noticeable aroma, but the acidity gives it a refreshing mouthfeel. It may not have much sweetness to begin with, but the acidity helps to make it dry. Despite its dryness, it has a strong flavor, which is probably due to the strong umami that can be tasted from start to finish. Dry sake is usually considered "spicy," but perhaps because of the strong umami, it does not feel too spicy. Interestingly, it is a sake that does not have much bitterness, which may be why it is so light and easy to drink despite its 17% alcohol content. This is seriously very, very good! I wouldn't say it's for everyone, but I think it's a must-try for sake drinkers who like umami!
