Drinking with my wife at Tsushima Tsuru at Metropolitan Morioka New Wing on our wedding anniversary last week (laughs). We continued with Kikunotsuka Junmai-shu (Junmai-shu is a junmai-shu made by Kikunotsuka). Kikunotsuka Yo is a summer sake in the same series. This one is a matured autumn-aged sake. It is sweet but refreshing. No sticky feeling at all. The mild taste goes well with Rishiri kelp and ebi majake. I have to get up early again tomorrow, so that's all for today. Good night. (-_-)zzz

We had an ume (sea urchin) lunch box at Kuji station, and spent the second night in Miyako. Miyako's sake brewery, Hishiya Sake Brewery, Senryo Otokoyama. A gift from Sawanoizumi The Jun Dai I drank before was a Miyagi sake, beautifully light and dry, and I felt (selfishly) the earnestness of the toji (master brewer). I had an image of a modest, but firm, light, dry Kura. And then there is this special pure Sawanoizumi. It does not have much of a topping aroma, but the mouthfeel is surprisingly sweet and umami! This is the first time I drink it at home. I bought it from Kurumiya in Hachinohe because they only sell one bottle of sake in my neighborhood. I also bought two other kinds of sake that cannot be bought in Kansai. The packaging was very careful and excellent. The aroma is subtle, with hints of strawberries and berries. The refreshing sweetness and acidity are pleasant. The final taste is bitter. I have the impression that Miyamanishiki and other sake I have had in the past were sweeter. I wish there was a store in Kansai where I could buy Shugou... I heard that the sake brewery here is aging, with all the employees over 65 years old. I wonder if that's why they don't distribute much.
