Colleagues from Phnom Penh brought this sake to a firm meeting. Interesting—yellow color (not sure from the yellow koji or the jasmine rice, or both). Made by Fungi Art Brewery in Phnom Penh, with the rice from a well regarded agricultural area. Noticeable alcohol but only 14%. Assume this is my first & last tasting of this.

Hakkaisan was the first sake I really began to appreciate, and has been a benchmark for me. The consistency and quality are unsurpassed. Never disappointed and never tired of it. This is Nihonshu, at least in the late modern era.

Purchased at Kanda Myojin gift store along with a craft beer. Despite this being a bottle-cap bottling, actually superior to the beer. Love the package, too. But I can’t imagine ever repeat this.

Another “summer” brew, & last of the evening. Gassy in a good way, and reminiscent of ramune (but for adults). While the crowds in Kamakura feel like summer, still not warm enough. But this makes me feel like summer is here.

Sorry to edit. My second session at RH Craft Sake Week, on 4/23. Tonight’s theme — Brewed with History. My only 8 coin purchase (maybe ever?) and worth it. Great flavors & balance. Sad I was standing in a convention setting and not at home with my bride & dog, & home food. Really good stuff. Support Kyoto sakegura. No disappointments.
