OSAKA SAKE & FOOD EXPO 2024⑱. The last of the Yomiuri Shimbun booth is here. There are stores where you can buy Nihonshin, and I've had it, but I've never seen such an expensive sake... Yamada-Nishiki 40% polished rice More modern label than the Nihonshin I drank at home 😁. It's gorgeous, but I felt it's more sake-like... The label is also modern and written in English, so I wonder if it's for export?

This one, like the Ko-Imari, was purchased when I was with Yoohee-san. The rice is Matsuyama Mitsui. It has a melon-like taste and a strong bitter taste like bitter melon. I've had it for drinking out of doors, Edo Kaijo! Is it brewed in Shiba, Minato-ku? Dry! Is the alcohol content high? I thought it would be 14 degrees. I vaguely thought it might be 17 degrees since it was labeled as a pure sake, but..., But I was wrong, Well, it is no wonder I felt that way. It tasted sharp.

After returning home, I wondered what to drink and chose "Karahashi" by Homare Shuzo, which I had never had a chance to drink before! It is a junmai ginjo made from Omachi. The first sip gives the impression of sweetness with no sourness. As you continue drinking, the spiciness comes out and the trinity of sweetness, umami, and spiciness comes together, which is just the right balance and delicious. There are other sake rice varieties in the Karahashi series besides Omachi, so you have to try them 😆.

Karahashi label by Homare Sake Brewery. Unfiltered unpasteurized sake made from sake rice Yume no Kou. Fruity ginjo aroma. The aroma of melon and sweetness, followed by a slight sourness and bitterness, finally fading away with a slight spiciness. Although it is unfiltered raw, there is no bitterness or peculiarity, and the impression is of a soft, sweet, umami taste.
