August New Year's Eve like midsummer. Long time no instrument. But it is the first time to drink anything but Honjozo. Procured it for a home evening drink.
Very thin, slightly carbonated, sweet, light and easy to drink. It goes well with dried firefly squid, Nanban miso, home-made cucumber cucumbers, and everything else.
There were so many things to buy today that I was not sure what to buy, but I prioritized sake that I had never had before. Here's a taste.
It has a rounded mouthfeel, with an aroma that hits the back of the upper jaw and passes through the nostrils. It is not a light sake, but a sake with a strong umami flavor.
Today I actually went looking for a different sake, but couldn't find it. I had been curious about Akabu for a while. There was a reasonably priced junmai sake, so I bought it. I drink it chilled in the refrigerator. It is like a refreshing fruit juice and goes well after a summer bath.
I bought it because I had heard the brand name a few times and it was reasonably priced, but I took a sip and, whoa, I liked it. It has a smooth mouthfeel, a little sweet.
I had bought a nice bottle of Yukino Kayasha, which my senpai told me was good for warming sake, and I bought its hiyaoroshi at the end of September. I forgot how it was.
Fruity aroma. The mouthfeel is smooth and watery, with a touch of sweetness on the tip of the tongue, but it comes back later with a rush down the throat.
It was still cold, so I went for a sake that would go well with the hot-warm sake available at the supermarket. It was indeed good hot sake. It's very nice.
To commemorate my visit to Sawara, a town of waterways, I bought a cup of sake at a roadside station. The iris pattern is a nice touch. It has a round, easy-drinking taste with a Japanese sake-like peculiarity on the palate.
