Ikebukuro with friends on Wednesday. It was not an all-you-can-drink party. Sake was my friend's choice as we sunk into the sake swamp. It was my first Hakuba Nishiki. Nice choice. It tasted like it would be ranked high in the Nigorin picks. It was fresh, fruity, sweet and refreshing. The upper half of the label is European and the lower half is Japanese, which gives it a Showa-era feel.

Hakuba Nishiki, a Chateraise limited edition. I heard it was spicy, but it was more fruity than I expected. Slightly sweet with a short aftertaste. Hmmm, the sake they bring to the department store was spicier, but the taste itself might be better... I thought I would have preferred Hitogokochi, but they didn't sell it in the store, and it said on their website that it was mail order only... Personally, I'm quite disappointed that Le Lac is no longer sold... I tasted some Hakuba Nishiki at a department store the other day, but it was not worth the price 🤔.

At home. This is the last in the Shiga Sake series. It has a gorgeous aroma, sweetness and acidity in the mouth, and a very refreshing taste that finishes with a light bitterness. I had three kinds of Shiga Sake, Taga, Laughing Season, and Nikkoku-Tsuchisei, and I would like to try the other kinds again.

Yesterday we went to Bicchu Matsuyama and Kibi Tsu! We were worried about rain, but it was really fortuitous that it shifted and we saw some sunshine. The view over the magnificent stone walls and town at the top of the mountain was exceptional ✨. Then we visited the Kibitsu Shrine, with its long corridor and historic appearance. The long corridor and historic appearance of the Kibitsu Shrine that we visited afterwards was truly heartwarming 🍑. After exploring, we crossed the Seto Inland Sea and drank a glass of Kibi-shu 🍶. He said it was a thank-you for the 3 kg of new rice he delivered every year during his tenure, which he called a "taste test. Rice has become sake!
