Last night was a New Year's party with a couple I met last year. We had dinner at a nice restaurant and then went to Kokubuncho. After the fourth bar, I finally had a chance to drink sake. I have known the owner of this sake bar on the outskirts of the city for about 25 years now. The lighting doesn't look like it's the kind of place you'd enjoy sake, but don't worry about that. The selection is quite good, so go for something you've never tried before. First up is Hiryu, the one with Tatsumi Fujinami's red towel. A dry sake with a refreshing yet tasty flavor, just like Mr. Shinzawa! Thank you very much for your hospitality!

Welcome Spring with Iga Sake (5) Iga Sake Fair this spring. The last one is a matured sake. Mie Nishiki's super-harsh junmai. First at room temperature. Pale gold in color. I bought a bottle of Ayagiku's raw sake because it seems to be rare. I bought it at Okura Sake Shop in front of Tamatsukuri Station. It is a new store opened this year. They seem to carefully select and handle brands that are not found in the Kansai region. They have a wide selection of sake brands such as Rairaku, Kinshi Morinori, Shonosato, Hizen Kurashin, Chitose Mori, Kikunoi, Hakuryu (Fukui Prefecture), Ayagiku, Hanashimi, Zoka, Morinokura, Rokkasen, Tenzan, etc. Sake made with Sanuki olive yeast. Fresh, rich, sweet and acidic. The acidity is impressive, but there is also a bit of spiciness in the latter half. It has a light mouthfeel for its alcohol content, perhaps due to the acidity. It does have a slightly tropical flavor.

[Kagataya hanpukai 2021⑧] The last bottle of the 4-month-long hanpukai was a special order of the first Niseko ☺️The rice used was Comet. It was the only one out of the 8 bottles in this hanpukai that was delivered at room temperature. It's the only one out of 8 that was delivered at room temperature. The aroma is gourd-like🥒The alcohol content is 17 degrees, which is a little high, but it feels more like alcohol and has a punchy taste. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I'm sure it's a good thing. This is how I completed my hanpukai 😆. I was a little nervous about buying two bottles of sake every month, but the brands were so gorgeous and I'm so glad I joined as a result❗.
