When I saw the words "mind wandering," I wondered what kind of sake it was, so I bought it. Today I paired it cold with hokke. The aroma is limpid! A flavor that is as good as the saltiness of the hokke. This is delicious. I've never seen this before. Both the rice and rice malt are from Niigata Prefecture. Eh? Is this a sake made by Nagataya in cooperation with Nakagawa Sake Brewery? I've never seen this before, though they put it in a nice place in the store. It seems to be available through Furusato tax payment.

It snowed quite a bit today, Echigo-Yuzawa. Before going home, I asked the store owner for a recommendation for hot sake, and bought a bottle of Shirataki. I bought a bottle of Shirataki. It has both sweetness and sourness, and was delicious both chilled (natural) right after we brought it home and slightly warmed (the label says to warm it up a little). The snacks were chicken liver with sweet and spicy ginger shoyu and chicken breast with salted malted rice. A bottle of sake cost less than 2,500 yen. Sake is so cost-effective! Well, the bottle runs out quickly. When I put the empty bottles in the recycling bucket, I think to myself, "There aren't any sake bottles left," but then I realize that I like sake so much that I can't help it.

A bottle selected for in-store tasting. Kimi no I Shuzo offers a warming set for tasting. I tasted it cold at first, and then warmed it up to lukewarm. I decided on this bottle immediately. The alcohol content is a bit high at 17%. It is 100% Yamadanishiki. My husband only drinks it cold, so he would be surprised if I told him I drank it warmed. (Until about half a year ago, I only drank junmai daiginjo cold. My sake world has become richer in my opinion). Lukewarm heating is the best. Since my meal was junk and I had beer with it, this is my after-dinner drink today. The snack was salted boiled Niigata green soybeans!

Today's Kanji Takachiyo Junmai Sake is limited to (Niigata) prefecture. It was served cold with shime saba, processed mackerel from Ishikawa Prefecture. The seafood available at the supermarket is definitely better than in Tokyo, probably because of its proximity to the sea. A four-pack of Takachiya lasted only an hour for the two of us. It was delicious!

Today there was a paid tasting at Takahashiya at the east exit of Echigo Yuzawa station, so I stopped by. I tasted and purchased various items, but first was a cup of Yukio Junmai Sake because I wanted a bottle. I paired it with spicy pork shabu-shabu and chilled it down to a cool temperature. Delicious, a deeply delicious supper. It was fun to talk a lot with the brewer of Aoki Sake Brewery - the tasting.

When I saw it in the store, I thought I would heat it up, but in fact, I chilled it to the last minute and drank it cold in no time at all. I was surprised that Kirinzan has such a bottle, but next time I'll try it hot. I'll have to go look for it, since it seems to be limited in number. And a thermometer is a must.
