This sake was given to me at a "review party" and "birthday party" after watching a baseball game with friends in August 2018. The place was a salted hormone restaurant in Oimachi, but since it was not served here, I will omit the location. Drunken Whale" is made by "Drunken Whale Brewing Company" in Kochi City. In July 2018, at the usual Tora Shukan. The brewer is Matsui Shuzoten, Shioya-machi, Tochigi. This "Dry Junmai" is a limited edition for special dealers. The rice used to make it, Hitogokochi, is a relatively new variety. According to a description found on the Internet, "Hitogochi was first bred at the Nagano Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station in 1987, and in 1995, an application for registration of seeds and seedlings was filed and trial brewing began at the Nagano Sake Brewers Association. March 2018, at the usual tiger's eye view. The brewery is Shiraito Shuzo Ltd. in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Itoshima City was a well-known producer of Yamadanishiki, wasn't it? The name "Tanaka" made me feel familiar with it, so I ordered it. The "Tanaka" in "Tanaka Rokuugo" comes from the fact that the brewery is located in a rice paddy. Rokugo" is neither a pseudonym derived from the age of the brewer like Naoki Sanjuugo nor a stage name like Egashira 2:50, but is derived from the 65% rice polishing ratio. It is characterized by the use of a traditional method called "hanegi shibori" (pressing with a spring wood press) during the top-filling of the tank. http://www.shiraito.com/tanaka-65/

March 3, 2018, as the third drink of the day at Tora Vigilantes in Shibuya. The brewer is Fuji Shuzo Co. of Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture; we had had this in November 2017, so this was a re-release of the same brand in a short interval, which is unusual for Tora Vigilantist. This Junmai Daiginjo uses Niigata Prefecture's "Gohyakumangoku" rice for the sake rice. The label was renewed in 2017 with a zebra design that has a strong impact, and at first glance you would not notice that it is a rebranded product of "Eiko Fuji". As for the reason for the "zebra" naming... I read a blog post where this sake was featured, but I couldn't quite figure it out (lol). https://sake-wadaya.com/276/ The name seems to be an overlap between Zebras, which are herbivorous animals that support each other and survive in herds, and the more than 30 different brands of Eikoufuji sake.

It is a pure, unfiltered, unpasteurized pure rice sake made from 100% Yamada Nishiki. March 3, 2018, at the usual Tora no Sekku on Peach Festival. I drank it once a year and a half ago, in September 2016, and as before, no detailed specifications were disclosed, as the brewer's intention was "to let you taste the sake as it is without being bound by preconceived notions about the rice or rice polishing ratio". The bottle barely reveals that it is a "nama-shu" (raw sake). The bottle is tagged "Junmai Daiginjo," so we tagged it as such. According to the product introduction of the sake store, it is a "new brand launched by five Shuho distributors nationwide," "'Pearl' stands for a round grain like a pearl, and 'rhyme' for lingering. January 2018, early in the New Year, with the usual tiger's eyes. The brewery is Aruga Brewery Limited Partnership in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, a long-established company founded in 1774. The rice used for this junmai ginjo is 100% local "Yumenokou" rice from Fukushima Prefecture. The label on the neck reads "NAKADORI NAKADOKUMI" and "PROTOTYPE" as well. January 2018, with my favorite chicken nanban, etc. at the usual Shibuya Toramikan. The brewer is Hato Masamune Co. in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture. It was founded in 1897. This special junmai sake is made from 100% Hanafukiyuki, a variety grown in Aomori Prefecture. The label states "once-fired" and "bottle stored". This sake was brewed by the 11th generation of the brewer, Koikawa Shuzo Co. with a personal touch, as it was brewed in anticipation of the success of Togashi-san, a high school classmate and director of the "Tetsujin 28-go Live Action Version" movie. The sake itself seems to be well made, with 100% "Gohyakumangoku" rice produced in Shonai-machi, Yamagata Prefecture. *Product data as of January 2023 Mouth: Dry Rice: Ihyakumangoku Rice polishing ratio 50%. May 2018, at the usual Tiger's Tail. The owner and I are both baseball fans, so he offered me an interesting sake. It is a limited edition baseball series from Yamamoto. The brewer is Yamamoto Shuzoten Co. The brewery was founded in 1901. It is a sibling of "Two Out Full Base," and this one is of a higher grade. It is a scene where he hits a home run and high-fives everyone, so we put a little aroma on it and made it have a lingering aftertaste. Don't buy one without the other. The proper way to drink it is to drink a two-out full base and then reverse the situation by hitting a grand slam home run." is the note on the website. The correct order of events seems to be "two out full base" followed by a "reverse grand slam home run". The brewery is Yamamoto Sake Brewery Co. in Happo-cho, Akita Prefecture. The brewery was established in 1901. In May 2018, we rented out a restaurant in Takadanobaba for a gathering of my college baseball team. At that time, one of my seniors who lives in Aizu-Wakamatsu brought two sakes: Junmai Daiginjo Kame no O and Daiginjo Mai, both from Aizu brewery Suehiro Shuzo. Mai" is no longer being produced, as the liquor store's past information stated that on January 11, 2022, "Mai" was sold out due to the end of production," (according to Shimada Shoten's website). In May 2018, we rented out a restaurant in Takadanobaba for a gathering of my college baseball team. At that time, one of my seniors who lives in Aizuwakamatsu City brought me two sakes: "Junmai Daiginjo Kame-no-o" and Daiginjo "Mai" from Suehiro Shuzo, a brewery in Aizu. Kame-no-o" is the name of a rice developed in Yamagata during the Meiji era. It was difficult to cultivate and had fallen into disuse, but it was revived in Aizu and brewed with Suehiro's yeast. The website describes the characteristics of this sake as follows: "A refreshing cool sensation spreads quickly in the mouth, and the elegant acidity and faint bitterness further broaden the flavor.

December 28, 2017, the last day of work, at the usual Shibuya Tiger's Brewery. The brewery is Ikezuki Shuzo Co. in Onan-cho, Shimane Prefecture. The "Kihachi Special" is said to be a special product of Kihachi Koyama, the manager of the distributor, Koyama Sake Shop. The rice used is 100% local Sako Nishiki. The label is full of information: "wooden vat shibori," "straight pumping," "rice polishing ratio 70%-5%," "arabashiri," "honnama," "super dry," and "junmai-shu. The brand name "Ikezuki" seems to derive from the name of a famous horse associated with Kamo Shrine. It was bought by Minamoto no Yoritomo... This sake is made with rice and rice koji (Yosano brand rice "Kyo no Mamekko Koshihikari") produced in Yosano Town and brewed with malic acid high productivity yeast.
