This is the second drink of the day.
Kudokitate was recommended to me when I was asked if I would like a dry one. The moment I put it in my mouth, I felt a stinging sensation on my tongue, but when I rolled the second sip on my tongue, a rich sweetness spread out. It is like having two tastes in one cup.
First drink at the usual Osada.
Nigorigo and slightly effervescent. It feels like a swish on the tongue. It's not so much sweet as crisp and masculine. Not sure if that's a good description 💦.
Let's finish with nigori, the popping of the bubbles is pleasant. It has a stickiness that clings to you, but it's not unpleasant. The fact that I was fine the next day even after drinking so much is proof that it is a good sake.
For my second drink of the day, I chose a heavier, more robust sake. It does not have a heavy and heavy feeling, but rather a sense of umami. The aroma is weak. It was in the mellow sake category at the store.
A cheap bar in town that also offers a choice of sake brands. I wondered how hot "Dai-harakuchi" (very hot) sake would be, but it was a reassuring sake that slid smoothly down my throat like water.
The last one was Naruto sea bream, which was served again going back and saying it was the one with the best aroma. A little sweet. I don't remember the aroma. I drank too much💦.
The fourth glass was an Ottersai, a well-balanced sake. It was indeed delicious and well-balanced. My eldest son, who is not a drinker, said this was the best sake and ordered more. I see that this subtlety is good for those who can't drink in large quantities,
Feeling good, I had my third drink. Next time, I'll try the sweet sake. The proprietress suggested a nigori. The next one was a limited edition of drunken whales for the Spring Festival. It is good that it is not too sweet. The range from dry sake to sweet sake is also enjoyable.
The first drink of the course. The one that came out with a nice aroma was Kochi's Bishou. Not too strong in character, but soft and gorgeous. It has a good balance.
When I was thinking that the Junmai Daiginjo "Ki" was too refreshing to try again, an acquaintance recommended this Junmai-shu to me. I drank it cold and at room temperature, and was shocked at the umami spreading in my mouth even though it was drier at room temperature.
The first sip is sweet. The first bite is sweet, but soon after it tastes a little bitter. It's not really bitter, but for some reason it makes your mouth water. It is a complex taste that I would like to try again.
Peach Drops, which I used to drink a lot when I was younger.
The black label Junmai Daiginjo was my first choice this year. The aroma was strong, and the subtle sweetness unique to Momo no titrip was refined by the Junmai Daiginjo.
Sake was suggested to go with the hot bean-paste Chinese cabbage with a hearty kick of sansho (Chinese pepper). It was delicious, with a well-balanced flavor that was neither too spicy nor too sweet.
