Hakone Drink Comparison Set (2) On March 1, after a year-long event, I went on a trip to Hakone as a way of consolation! The local sake was served to compare with Japanese kaiseki. It was my first time to try Hakonezan! This is the spiciest sake in the group. It is a dry ginjo-shu as you might imagine, but it is moderately rich and very good as a mid-meal drink. Of course, it goes well with ingredients as they are, but it also goes well with dishes that have been added, such as those using dashi (Japanese soup stock)!

The sake is brewed by "Toroki Shouten", a sake brewer who was involved in growing the rice and brewing it together with Wakatakeya Sake Brewery. I got it as a sign of support 😊 Is it what's called a light, dry taste? It had a faintly sweet aroma, but the sip was refreshingly watery! The flavor and bitterness come out on the palate. I was drinking it with cream cheese as an entrée, but it doesn't get in the way, so it's probably just right for a mid-meal drink 😊.

Sake meter degree: +3.8, Acidity: 1.5 (reference) Fat: 7/25 (bottle opened 8/23) This sake won the Platinum Award in France in 2018, and I tasted and bought it during my business trip to Nagoya on 7/19! Origin of the name *From the label The name "Two Hundred Eighty-eight Nights" comes from the fact that it took Mr. Takakura 288 days from rice growing to sake brewing in 1999, and Mr. Uno, who inherited his will, brewed it faithfully according to his teachings. I didn't notice any particular aroma after opening the bottle, but it had a refreshing-like feeling. The refreshing taste on the palate reminds me of a beautifully dressed young lady in summer clothes with a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel 😍. It's dry, but you can also taste a hint of sweetness, which I think is what makes it so refreshing. The spiciness may be due to the 16% alcohol content. The spiciness comes in the second half when it goes down your throat 🤩. Delicious! I was wondering what the same company that did Tenka and Shihu would do with the Meimon Shukai now that they've taken over the business? I was wondering what they were going to do with the prestigious sake associations, and then they released it 😊. Slightly effervescent, sweet and sour. Is it white malted rice? It's so acidic that I thought it was white malted rice. It also has a slightly dry atmosphere. It has a unique taste, but it is delicious. I wonder if the product for the Meimon Shukai that was sold before was Yuyamanishiki, but instead of using Yuyamanishiki, they used Gohyakumangoku to separate it from Honami.
