Purchased at Sakatoya in Mizonokuchi. The clerk recommended this "Dohanzake" sake, which goes well with heated sake. First, a glass of cold sake, and it goes right in. Next, we tried heating it up. The flavor profile is enhanced. I salute the Kawanishiya Sake Brewery for making sake with this in mind.
Oroku was purchased last week at Sakatoya in Mizonokuchi. We took it out of the refrigerator at the back of the house, where the temperature is well controlled. The balance of acidity and flavor is excellent.
I made up the reason that I was able to get a good bottle of sake, and had a drink with my 87-year-old father. Today's entrée is a hot pot with chives. The fruity yet full-bodied sake was a great accompaniment.
