It sat at freezing zero for four years (I forget). It turned out to have an unexpected flavor. Aromas of taro, honey and honeydew melon. I had this wine at the harbor restaurant in Wakkanai, the northernmost point of Japan. Slightly green apple and rice aromas, slightly sweet in the mouth, very refreshing. Simple structure and low alcohol. Great for a toast, the northernmost point, the northernmost voyage! Pairing: Wakkanai Sarutobi Scallops and Soya Wagyu Steak. Score: 90

Purchased at JR Obihiro Station. Hokkaido only. Drink it on the limited express train to Wakkanai. Aroma of citrus, green apple, honeydew melon, and a hint of cooked rice. The mouthfeel is sweet, and the honeydew melon flavor is obvious. Well-balanced, slightly thick, with medium to high alcohol and lingering. Long finish. Pair with: peanuts, crab sticks, potato chips. Saw it at Sendai station. Just in time to enjoy it on the way to Hachinohe! Shinkansen Izakaya has opened. The body is crisp and clean, with a hint of green apple aroma.
