I live near San Francisco. I expanded my enjoyment after a 3-day sake class in Mar 2017. Now enjoyed with all dinners. Visited Kyoto in 2018 and really added to my appreciation and am now addicted!

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください A bright lively smooth sake, with hints of red citrus and pineapple but a nice acidity. Very enjoyable. Drank with a spaghetti pasta with steamed garlic mussels, broth and Parmesan cheese.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Quite dry and high in alcohol from what I’m used to, hard to distinguish flavors and character. I did sense some woodiness and dry fruit but overall too strong and not that enjoyable. Drank while eating pan-fried halibut, lamb chops, broccoli and pickled ginger.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Very nice. Full body, apricot and almond flavors and nuances right off, slight grassiness, good acidity, slight cotton candy finish and nose. Enjoyed with cold leftover lamb, okonomoyaki pancake, clam miso soup and an avocado with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. 😋

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Wow! Terrific! Hits you straight off with pineapple, grapes, banana and almonds. A slight acidic lemony finish. Very full in the mouth. Wonderful. Enjoyed with salmon gravlax, chicken teriyaki, and cold spinach with Thai peanut sauce.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Quite good, but no floral or fruity notes in this sake, quite dry with smooth creamy subtle start followed by vanilla and a slight nuttiness. Very different than most sake. I enjoyed it. Eaten with sturgeon which I caught prepared butter pan-fried with blackened redfish spice and as panko-encrusted fish sticks, rice and miso soup.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Really delicious! Very fruity and candy-like (almost cotton candy) with nuances of almond. But overall with a good acidity to stand up to food. Enjoyed with broiled lobster tail over rice with melted butter.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください This is a very dry sake with hints of pine, wood and anise. It’s nose almost cactus-flower like. A sharp and dry sake deliscious with food. I enjoyed it with fried walleye perch, corn/pork Chinese dumplings, and pork-stuffed green peppers with Chinese-style brown gravy. 😋

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Very smooth and light, nose of flowers, taste of flower, citrus and tropical fruit, taste slowly dissipates. Enjoyed with vegetable quiche and a mixed green salad with miso dressing. Will definitely buy again.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Delicious nama sake! Strong character, sharp, complex, slightly citrusy. Really good with Chinese hot pot. This was the welcome sake served at last weekend’s Sake Day 2021 in San Francisco hosted by True Sake.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Not bad, not very complex, a little earthy, lemony, a little astringent. I liked it but often prefer a more complex sake. Enjoyed with a grass-fed steak sprinkled with sea salt and black pepper and pan-fried to rare in butter and olive oil.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Nuances of cherry and stone fruits in the nose and initial sip followed by cotton candy and pineapple nicely dry however. Enjoyed with pasta topped with halibut, clams and oyster mushrooms and the broth used to steam the clams.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください On my first sip I failed to find any qualities I often find in sake: no fruit, no almond, no flower, etc. I simply found it dry, slightly salty and even a slight “roughness”, but very very slight. Upon then checking online descriptions it was interesting to confirm those expected qualities were indeed not there. It was described as earthy, dry and slightly salty. A welcomed difference to what I’m used to. Enjoyed with a roast lobster tail and pasta with garlic butter.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Wonderful notes of red grapes, plum, marshmallow and flowers. With a stronger though not overpowering finish. Enjoyed with maguro sashimi, a small tray of Uni and a tin of smoked sardines in olive oil.

  • rich815Fair, a bit watery with not much body, apple-like flavors, cotton candy, a slightly astringent finish. Not bad just not that good either. Did not stand up to food very well. A basic simple sipping sake that most newcomers to sake might like.

Subtle nuances of pineapple and cantaloupe at first, followed by a sharper more astringent aftertaste with slight umami at the end. Quite good though not that complex. I still liked it. Enjoyed with crab/avocado roll sushi.

  • rich815私の英語を言い訳してください Very nice and unique. A dry snap to the first sip with some slightly grassy flavor followed by melon, cherries and slight floral nose. Excellent for food and a bit thinner in mouth feel than many sakes but I appreciate its difference from most I am used to. Enjoyed with some oven-baked salmon with seasoned and buttered cauliflower.

Enjoyed with pork ribs plus zucchini crab pancakes (Dungeness crab my daughter and I captured in the Northern California ocean this last weekend!) that my wife made.
