The day before my husband's birthday, we had a joint birthday party in Kyoto.
My mother and husband share the same birthday, but this year my sister celebrated her birthday with my mother, so for the first time in a long time, my husband and I spent time together.

The next day we went to Matsuo-taisha shrine, which is famous as the "god of sake brewing.
I would be happy if I could drink good sake all the time.
Back home, I opened a bottle of this sake I bought at the Takashimaya Sake Festival. I tasted many different kinds and liked it.
It has a fruity aroma despite the retro label. It reminds me of white wine.
I liked the balance of firm rice flavor, acidity and sweetness.
On the second day, the fruity part of the aroma calmed down, and the overall roundness of the wine brought out the full flavor of the rice.
I think this is the first time I have tasted Shiga Watabune No. 2 sake rice.

Emishiki Tokubetsu Junmai Sensation label is already fairly easy to find in Japan. Brewed in Emishiki, Shiga Prefecture, it basically feels natural in its acidity and refreshment. However, I wasn't impressed on this day and felt it was overshadowed by the Miyakanbai that followed.

I too imagined the taste to be sweet and fruity from the aroma, but was surprised to find that it was not what I expected! It is more classical than the other Sensation flavors.

The first sip. Sourness, sweetness, and bitterness come together! It has a slight sense of nama-moto.
The cosiness is great, too.

When I was in Koka, Shiga on business, I stopped by the Laughing Shiki sake brewery. Unfortunately, the brewery does not sell directly, so I dropped by a liquor store that sells it and found a nice bottle!
What a surprise, he seemed to be involved in making a pilot version of the sake, and he recommended this one!
It was cheap, in the mid-1000 yen range! And although the label says it is special junmai, they said it goes by junmai daiginjo!
The taste is low in sweetness and high in acidity, so there is no bubbles, but the refreshing mouthfeel makes it easy to drink!

The soft mouthfeel has a hint of sourness and sweetness. It has a refreshing aftertaste.

Since the beef was delicious Omi beef, I paired it with sake from the same prefecture. It was sweet on the palate and had a robust flavor that did not overpower the meat.
It is a pity that there was no information about the sake other than the brand name. Next time, I would like to enjoy it at home.
