With three types to compare, the first one is inevitably the 14th Generation. It's incredibly vibrant, with aromas of white peach or muscat grapes. Overwhelmingly smooth, with a refined sweetness and a clear, umami-rich flavor. The finish is long, fading away cleanly at the end. It's too delicious. I can see why it's so popular.

This time of year, nigori sake is especially delicious. I've been wanting to try Jikon's nigori for ages. My wish has finally come true. It's fresh and milky, with banana and sweet rice aromas for a refreshing feel. The mouthfeel is silky and creamy, with rich umami from the rice and natural sweetness, plus Jikon's signature clean acidity and crisp finish. No heaviness lingers. Ahh, bliss.

It's been a while since I had Hanamura. Elegant and vibrant, with a fruity note reminiscent of a Western pear? Yet its ginjo aroma isn't overly flashy. The mouthfeel is incredibly smooth, with umami and sweetness perfectly balancing the whole. This is truly delicious too. A flavor you never tire of.

Right at the start of the new year, a wonderful sake tasting. First up: Hana-Yōyoku. My first time trying Gohyakumangoku. A gorgeous, fresh aroma. A rich sweetness and deliciousness, just like pineapple.
