Today I attended the wine festival at the Sagami-Ono Sake Raku Festival. To be honest, the wine didn't sting much. I bought this one at a liquor store in Sagamiono as a palate cleanser. It has a slightly sour aroma. The fine bubbles were popping. It is not fruity, but has a good balance of sweetness and acidity, and is delicious with a strong umami flavor. I had recently been looking into this sake because I wanted to visit the brewery.

Nakano Loves Nakano, sold by Nakano Sake Sales Cooperative, is a "Junmai-shu" (pure rice sake). Although it has a colorful feel, it is brewed by the Yamatogawa Sake Brewery in Kitakata, Aizu. It is surely dry. The aroma is subdued. The aroma is subdued and the taste is very dry. And there is a subtle brown sugar type sweetness with a bit of richness. Hmmm, this is delicious. This full-bodied slight sweetness shines through. Yamatogawa Sake Brewery is famous for Yaemon, but I have not had much of it. Maybe I should try to track them down a bit.

Sawanoi's dry nigori sake. It is one of the pleasures of this season. First, just the supernatant. Strong fizziness! Dry and dry. Delicious - I'm so happy! Then, mix in some orikori. The flavor increases. A hint of sweetness...but dry is dry! Reasonable and tasty, this is the charm of local sake. I really enjoy sake from where I live.

This is a limited-edition raw sake that was purchased at the recent Fussa brewery opening. Melon-like aroma that rises softly. It has a strong mouthfeel. Freshness and rough strength. The nutty richness that is typical of Kaisen is understated, but firmly perceptible. The taste will expand and become more delicious when it is slightly exposed to air and warmed up.

Junmai Kameguchi from Taman Juban. What is it...a faint lychee-like aroma. There is a hint of alcohol in the aroma. When you put it in your mouth, the alcohol feeling spreads and a hint of sweetness and astringency follows. When it combines with air in the mouth, it fires with a sharp taste. A dry, powerful, fresh sake. Very tasty.

On November 8, Ishikawa Sake Brewery and Tamura Sake Brewery held the Fussa Kurabiraki 2025 event on the same day, and I visited them with my family. This is Ishikawa Shuzo's special junmai sake. And it is labeled by Touji. The sweet aroma of rice rises softly. It is a very delicious sake with the freshness and roughness of new sake and a rich sweetness like soybean flour.

Sawanoi's new sake, Honjozo Shiboritate. This is the new Honjozo sake that we had at the brewery opening the other day. It is almost odorless. There is a kind of alcohol tang, but after that, nothing. Is this a characteristic of Tokyo's new local sake? A sense of melon for a moment...I would say this one is in the middle of the mid-palate, with a very well-balanced taste. Is it really new sake?

Kaisen's new sake, special honjozo. A refreshing aroma of rice. A melon-like sweetness spreads in the mouth for a moment, but it quickly disappears, and a refreshing bitterness stimulates the tongue. The richness of Kasen's typical nutty flavor can also be felt, albeit slightly, but firmly. I'm glad to see such a wonderful taste that I'm sure I'll be hooked on Kasen again this season.

This is an autumn sake made with Taman's signature Omachi. This is a gorgeous autumn sake with a full-bodied flavor and a juicy, Omachi-like texture. It is fruity but not fresh. When fruity ripens...well, I wonder what it turns into. It's different from ripe fruit, too. It is not that ripe. Japanese sweets? No, no, yes, it might be ripe like a dried persimmon. Dried persimmon or dried sweet potato...it has that kind of charm.

This is Sawanoi's newest sake, Shiboritate Junmai Nama-nama-shu. I had this at the brewery's recent "kurabiraki" event, but I was too busy enjoying the festivities to get a good taste of it. Refreshing rice aroma. It is delicious! And the flavor develops quickly. That is typical of new sake. It has a modest fruity flavor with a splashy sweet and sour development. The sharpness is also good.

Taman's newest sake, Arabashiri. The young koma on the label is very youthful. The sweet melon-like aroma rises to the surface. The juicy fruitiness fills the mouth and disappears with a refreshing acidity. It has strength and roughness, which is typical of new sake, but the balance between sweetness and acidity is very good.

Today, October 26th, is Ishikawa Sake Brewery's October Appreciation Day. There was a lineup of new sake, but Taman Boast still has some autumn sake that I haven't tried yet, so I'll start with that. So I went for the junmai hiyaoroshi. The aroma was subdued. Slightly sweet, but with a deep flavor that has been aged over the summer. I might want to warm it up a little...

10/25 at the Ozawa Sake Brewery's "Kurabiraki" event! For 1,000 yen, you get a tour of the brewery, a cup of sake, and 5 sake tastings. The tasting included two types of new sake and three types of expensive sake such as ginjo. I really enjoyed listening to both the president and the chairman talk about their standard "Dai-harakuchi" (very dry) sake and the label endorsement that the chairman came up with. I had to wake up early and go for a run, so I made the mistake of falling asleep on the way to the event. I should be in good condition to participate in such an event.

The first new sake of the year, Sawanoi's Ichiban-kumi. A bottle bottled this morning. The aroma is clean and refreshing. Slightly rummy. Umai! Umami that bursts in the mouth. The astringent taste is wildly bouncing around. It's so strong. It's quite high at 19 degrees. As a certain izakaya claims, it looks delicious with soda. I feel that Sawanoi has had enough of autumn sake, so I can enjoy mainly new sake from now on. I am looking forward to the brewery opening tomorrow!

Shoryu Hourai for glasses. I have never had a glasses-only sake, but when I saw that it was brewed by the Oyataka Brewery, I had to buy it. Oops, I have never smelled this aroma before. It smells like banana brandy... Oh my, it tastes like banana brandy too! There is a richness like soup stock and a honey-like sweetness in the aftertaste. I am here for this. This is the best.

LAKE x WHALE at Nagurayama? Hiyoshi Oroshi. I was afraid to try it because I thought, "Why a whale in Aizu? I was afraid to drink it because I thought it was a whale, but it turns out that the island of Ojima in Lake Inawashiro is modeled after a whale. It has a mellow, mushroom-like aroma that is rare. This is delicious. I thought it might be sweet and sour, but I felt mushrooms and nuts in the aftertaste. This is delicious. I like this kind of richness.
