Today I went to Umemiya-taisha Shrine and Matsuo-taisha Shrine in Kyoto, two of the three major sake shrines in Kyoto for Hatsumode (New Year's visit) 😀.
First, Umemiya-taisha shrine: ⛩️
The sake served here was by Gekkeikan 😀.
The sake we bought was from Sasaki Sake Brewery, which has re-labeled the label of their Jyugakudai sake exclusively for the shrine 😀.
I was thrilled because I had just recently had a Shuwakimaseri featuring the main deity of the shrine, Shuwakimaseri 😇.
Next, Matsuo-taisha shrine: ⛩️
It was bigger and had more worshippers than Umemiya-taisha, but still less crowded than other shrines in Kyoto 😇🙏.
The sake is poured from a barrel for 200 yen when you buy a 1,000-yen barrel, and the barrels were owned by Kizakura and Kozutsumi 😇.
The barrels were from Kizakura and Kozutsumi. We purchased two masu to commemorate the occasion and had both of them poured. The aroma of the wood was very fresh and the taste of the sake was more delicious than the sake we usually drink 😀.

Sake brewery tour upon returning home
Although most of the major sake breweries have a strong image of being sold in supermarkets, there are many delicious sake to be found in the tasting room!
Reminds me of the Kappappa and Rumpappa TV commercials.

The yellow cherry blossom kappa can by Kon Shimizu.
It is light and dry, with a hint of sweetness. It has a light and dry taste. The top aroma is apple. It is hot Irohasu.

Tozai is one of the most commonly available sake brands in the USA. However, their futsu-shu (named Typhoon) is significantly harder to come by. I wanted to try it again and was really pleased that I did. It is a little bit fuller bodied and leans more towards umami than sweet. I thought it was really good for a futsu-shu. It was good both chilled and at room temperature. Hints of nuts and some banana. I recommend giving it a try and seeing what you think if you ever come across it.
Following last night, today's dinner started with a one-cup sake.
The brand of sake rice is unknown (koji rice: Shuku, kake rice: Kyo no Kiseki),

It has a rounded mouthfeel with no peculiarities, which explains why it has been sold for many years. ☺️

Moved from Rakuchu to Fushimi
The purpose is to eat sakekasu ramen at Fushimizu Sake Brewery Alley and Kado-Sen.
I almost always stop by when I visit Kyoto.
Sakekasu and crispy chicken broth go really well together!
As we were sipping, an announcement was made that limited-edition Kizakura sake was available, so we ordered some after our meal!
It seems that the sake was served at the sake brewery open house that was cancelled due to bad weather, and was only available on this Saturday and Sunday!
A sales person from Kizakura came and poured us some 😊.
This was my first time drinking Junmai Daiginjo Shiboritate!
The aroma was slightly peachy.
It has a light, moist mouthfeel typical of Fushimi sake, while still having the petitiveness of new sake!
Not too floral, but a deep sweetness that is very tasty. ✨️
It also has the robustness of the original sake, and after drinking it, I slowly got drunk and felt very satisfied!
