Jim FazzoneWow!!! I get notes of butterscotch, burnt sugar, roasted caramel - maybe even smokey?! The flavors are so rich, so round, so chewy! What a treat!!
Jim FazzoneWOW!!! How can rice and water make something so delicious?! I taste notes of crème brûlée, mango, papaya, maybe even rose water?! Such a bold and full-bodied flavor without being overkill. Such a treat and I hope to find it again!!
Jim FazzoneWOW!! The nose on this sake is CRAZY! I smell watermelon, banana, strawberry, koji, maybe even vanilla?! As we enjoyed this bottle during our meal, I even got notes of limoncello! What an absolute treat - while on the expensive side, I would happily get this again
Jim FazzoneMy first time trying a junmai karakuchi!!! A very slippery and wet/dry sake which is awesome! Dry water. Slick water. Dry slickness. Fun stuff, very drinkable. I want this with everything found in an Izakaya type pub from salty and savory to fried, grilled and greasy.
Jim FazzoneFor the beginning of firefly squid season (hotaru ika), I couldn’t think of a more appropriate sake! This is a performance brew that shows how well a balanced sake can drink. I tasted jam, nectarine, persimmon, honeydew, sugar, nougat, young pear, peach, caramel, and mineral flavors that drinks with a salinity that is so appealing and unique. I hope to get it again!
Jim FazzoneAt room temperature it has a very nice entrance of chocolate wisps and a savory aftertaste, and chilled this Junmai brings forth a fruitier feel of soft pear and mellow mango. So balanced!
Jim FazzoneSaved this specially for the new year!! Such a lovely citrusy sake - paired with orange butter rice, roast duck and shrimp toast (with some ikura to be fancy). So much citrus!!!
Jim FazzoneA perfect sake with this premium chirashi!!! Full flavors of chewy fruit, even after the light aromas of cotton candy and grape juice. The mouthfeel is wide and heavy, but still left room for the sushi. In a word - chunky! I love intense white wines, so this is a new favorite. Loved this so much!!!!
Jim FazzoneBliss in a bottle. Notes of peach and pear on the nose, with a sweet finish and light body. Uni’s best friend. Such a treat and so delicious!!
Jim FazzoneSuch a treat with sushi!!! Notes of cherry and musky grape on the nose, along with aromas of steamed apples. Juicy, creamy, lovely lovely. Big fan.
Jim FazzoneA beautiful and rich sake! Had this with brown rice, chinook salmon, matsutake and greens. Wonderfully complimentary with rich, late-season salmon!!!
Jim FazzoneA beautiful sake!! Delicate melon notes, fruity and smooth. A long and lingering palate that set up beautifully with scallops, steak and vegetables on our New Years Eve dinner. Would happily drink again. Found that it was best around 70F (21C) and not directly from the refrigerator!
Jim FazzoneThe nose of this sake is beautiful! Pear and sweet floral notes play right up front with tons of pineapple too. Smooth, round, full and sweet on the palate; wildflower honey, almost a sweet potato pie flavor! Truly a beautiful sake that I want to drink again and again.
