At Takatsu Sake Shop, I purchased Matsuo, a sake from Nagano Prefecture that I had been curious about the last time I visited. It has a soft, fruity aroma, and when you take a sip, the sweetness comes first, followed slowly by the spiciness. The change in flavor is interesting and delicious.

First visit to Takatsu Sake Shop in Kusatsu City. I was surprised at the wide selection of local sake from Shiga and other regions of Japan, including Laughing Season, and after much deliberation, I bought a bottle of Sanryusei Hiyayogoshi (hiyaoroshi). The color was a little yellowish, the taste was umami and sweet, with a touch of spiciness coming later. I would like to try it heated.

This is the reason for my recent expedition to Kusatsu. Fresh, gorgeous, fruity, sweet and delicious. A little pineapple 🍍. And what can I say, it's phenomenally cosy at around 1400 yen for 40% polished Yamadanishiki rice!

At Takatsu Sake Shop in Kusatsu. This sake is also available in Osaka, but I bought it while buying other sake. They have a wide selection of sake from the Meimon Sake Association and Shiga Prefecture, including Raifuku, Yuho, Nohkuchi Naohiko Research Institute, and Enayama. Made with Yamadanishiki produced in Koka. Slight and gentle on the palate. Gentle fruity taste. Almost no alkaloids. It tastes even better than expected. It's a daiginjo, but you can buy it for about 1,500 yen, so it's cosy too.

La Shiki is my favorite sake. This is the first time I've had the Gold, and it's more crisp than the other Sensations, but it also has a great flavor.
