Opening a bottle of "New Moon", a fresh new sake from Nabeshima, a favorite of mine.
It has a fresh and gassy new sake flavor with a gorgeous tropical fruit aroma, and a beautiful taste with fresh acidity and umami that expands as you sip!
It was my first time to drink Yuyamanishiki sake rice, but it was a great new Nabeshima sake with a great taste!
Rice polishing ratio: 50% (100% Yuyamanishiki)
Alcohol content: 16%.
The third drink we had at Standing Bar Matsuzaki's 2nd anniversary was Ash 2020.
A bottle of Kame-no-o brewed in a wooden vat is one of my favorites!
It's not often that I get to see it, so I'm grateful that I did!
My first Katsuma Junmai sake from yesterday's standing bar Matsuzaki's 2nd anniversary.
This one is an Ibushigin one, similar to the Tamitsu I had a taste of the other day.
Rather than being gorgeous, it has a sweet flavor that gradually spreads on the tongue and a complex aftertaste, while still being crisp and clean.
We had a precious cup of sake on Saturday morning!
Thank you Harry Sakeboy!
I've heard of Katsikoma myself, but this is the first time I've seen it... I was so captivated by the Junmai sake that I wanted to go to Toyama to look for it myself...
Yesterday, we went to Standing Bar Matsuzaki's 2nd anniversary event at Kawagoe Station.
We were able to enjoy half-price limited edition sake for three days, so we went to see the event...
But it was hot yesterday, 38 degrees Celsius in Kawagoe City....
However, it was hot yesterday and the temperature in Kawagoe City was a scorching 38 degrees Celsius. I was excited to see that the "2nd Anniversary Limited Edition Sake" was available at half price from June 24 to 26.
We took refuge from the hot outside and had a glass of kin-kin nama-zake.
Since it was the first day of the opening, we were there to open the sealed bottle and enjoy a glass...
The chilled sake was so delicious that it was almost too good to be true!
On a side note, there was a sake-tasting quiz event held during the three days, so I took part in it!
The content of the quiz was to guess the rice used to make the sake for 330 yen, and the winners were chosen by lottery to receive a direct pass and the right to purchase Jikin (the content of the quiz changed every day for three days).
My wife and I participated in the event, and we both got the same answer!
Win or lose, we're thankful we got to drink a glass of Hanamup!
We left the rest to luck and went home after a day of sightseeing, feeling dizzy!
Good evening, Kumakichi. I often go to Shinjuku but I've only been to Ekimae a couple of times and I didn't know about this event, sounds like a lot of fun and you can drink a lot 😀, well, it's hot 😅.
Good evening, Harry Sakeboy! I usually visit the Urawa Parco store, but this was my second time to visit the Ekimae store. It seemed like they were having regular events.

Along with Matsuzaki's special Junmai, Matsuzaki's special order
Sairai Junmai Daiginjo-Nokkumi" comparison
Kagamiyama with a fresh and slightly soft gaseous taste.
I liked it.
Kagamiyama is known for its sake Musashi.
This special order sake is 100% Omachi 😉!
Takachiyo Valentine's Day Label
Slightly rich pineapple-like aroma.
The acidity is apple-like, with a bit of refreshing sourness.
I thought it was sweet and crisp, and when I looked at the label, I saw that it was undiluted sake at 17%, but there wasn't much alcohol in it, so it had a beautiful impression.
It seems to have been designed to go well with chocolate*.
I should have asked for chocolate, too. I should have gotten a bitter chocolate.
Director T.KISO! It's chocolate, isn't it? I was in a hurry, so I bought a note of the tasting and a bottle of Omine, so I'll try pairing it with bitter chocolate next time I see it!
Shinsei Suiboku (Ash)
The one thing I haven't tasted yet at Colors is ash, so I'm glad I got to taste it*.
Pale white peach aroma
The taste is impressive, with a clear acidity!
The other strange thing about it is that it smells like truffle-like mushrooms and, as usual, the light scent of that wooden vat*.
The aftertaste disappears quickly, so you'll want to drink it again, and the sake will soon be gone!
Why does it smell like mushrooms when made with rice? I wonder.
