I bought this cup of sake at Niigata Station Ponshu-kan when I went on a trip to Niigata. The cup has a design of a bull poking its horns and a Nishikigoi carp, which seems to be a specialty of Nagaoka City. It tastes quite umami and has a dry, refreshing aftertaste.

One of several items I acquired at Echigo-Yuzawa Station during a recent business trip. It is a powerful dish that allows you to feel the taste of rice directly on your tongue and nose. I enjoy it with grilled fish and pickles.

This is terrible! Rarely a bad review! The 300ml bottle sold in the refrigerator was priced at over 1000 yen, but when I opened it immediately after purchase, the aroma was very distinctive. I had a bad feeling at this point, but when I put it in my mouth, it tasted just like the aroma. It tasted just like the aroma in my mouth, and the smell was so bad that I felt it was an alcoholic beverage. The condition before entering the store? I have my own preferences and timing, but the performance for the price is very poor. No repurchase for me!

Ofuku Masamune Josen Honjozo Rice polishing ratio 65 Sake meter degree -1 This is the second sake received by subs in January. I think I had had this one before. But still.... Delicious. As I said, it's fun to drink a variety of sake. No disappointment so far.

We had dinner and drinks mainly with vegetables that arrived from relatives on my wife's side in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. Mainly meat and potatoes. Potatoes, onions, and carrots. Simmered taro. Pickled Chinese cabbage and edible chrysanthemum. Garland chrysanthemum with sesame paste. We started the evening with Asahiyama Hyakusubai, but the nearest sake brewery by a straight line from where the vegetables were produced is Ofuku Sake Brewery. This brewery is located near the former Yamakoshi Village in present-day Nagaoka City. The brewery also produces a brand of sake called "Yamakoshi," which is brewed from rice grown in the terraced rice paddies of Yamakoshi. The price is reasonable. The brewery is also known for its "Echigo kuragen direct shipment raw" and "Houjou tamaguchi raw" 😅. This is a light, umaguchi raw sake 👍.

I thought I was going to get a "kerfuffle" after drinking so much, but it's 19 degrees alcohol! I read the description carefully and found out that it is recommended to drink it on the rocks. I've already drank a lot of it straight and it's delicious, so it's perfectly fine straight 😏 I now understand that that's what a sake should be like. I am glad that it is 300ml. I bought the Ofuku Masamune drinking comparison set, so I'm looking forward to the other two! The taste is quite robust but not difficult to drink, and the flavor is deep. I personally prefer something a little more fruity, but I like this more robust type as well because it gives me the feeling of enjoying sake!
