Junmai🍶Gohyakumangoku from Aizu
Slightly alcoholic. Slightly sweet mouthfeel. But with a crisp aftertaste. The squid and carrots (🦑🥕) add to the sweetness. A little dry with chashu pork. The pickled bamboo shoots soften the taste. It is interesting to see how the flavor changes depending on the snacks.

Here's one for today! This is another award-winning celebratory gift from my workplace😄It's my first Bandaiyuho Daiginjo! It won a gold medal at the 2024 National New Sake Competition😄I don't usually buy such good sake (lol).
It has been a while since I have had an award-winning sake. The aroma is mellow and gorgeous, like apples! When you drink it, it has a gentle mouthfeel with umami and a hint of bitterness. The aftertaste has a sharpness that is not typical of Yamada-Nishiki. It is a really beautiful sake with no cloying taste at all. This is indeed a gold medal-winning sake. It is really easy to drink and delicious! I knew that award-winning sake is different from other sake. I can see why it is so expensive.

I was invited out for a drink at the beginning of GW.
It had been a couple of years since we had a drink together.
We went to an izakaya (Japanese style bar) with only 7 seats at the counter, owned by a fish wholesaler. I heard that the place was crowded with customers during GW, but on this day we were lucky to have the place to ourselves 👍.
The fish was delicious. The tuna they served us was called "medium fatty tuna" and it was almost Ootoro.
I was wondering what kind of sake to serve with the sashimi. ‼️ I asked him if he would serve it at random and he said "Naraman, Izumikawa, Hiyoroki, Bandaiho, Kunigon," which was a relay of sake from Fukushima. What do you mean all of them are not on the menu?
I barely managed to get a shot of the Bandaiyoshi.

The aftertaste was clean, as it is a junmai daiginjo. Kaze ga Kowaru (The Wind Blows) is the major Shirai sake brewery, but Bandaiyoshi is also very good.
The oyako herring was also delicious, with an exquisite acidity that matched the sake.

Arrive at Iwaki by limited express "Hitachi". At Hop Japan, a craft beer store that opened in April at Iwaki Station S-PAL, we had many beers🍻 made with hops produced in Fukushima, then transferred to the Ban-Etsu Higashi Line to Koriyama🚃.
First drink 🍶 at Tsuruga Koriyama Ekimae for some horse sashimi🐴.
The sourness is pleasant. Sourness is nice and refreshing ✨. A good unadorned daily sake 😆 A little bitterness when paired with pickled herring sansho (Japanese pepper). The menu says "Sake with the Aizu spirit of a country stubborn father" 😅We had it in a private room in a relaxed atmosphere 😋.

It has a clear, yet robust mouthfeel. It is a good food sake with a moderate dryness. However, it will not go well with light rice, so I recommend it with foods that have a strong flavor. It goes better with french fries than chicken sashimi. ★★☆☆☆
