I bought a bottle of "Shotoku Winter Sake Activated Nigori" which was released today and is only available in winter. Similar to Kita-Akita, this nigori sake has a shriveled appearance due to the fermentation (activation) of the yeast in the bottle. Be careful when opening the bottle, as it will overflow. It is quite dry, and has a full flavor that goes into the nose, which is characteristic of nigori sake. Just one glass will make your throat hot. Personally, I prefer to drink it slowly and savor it, rather than to drink it in a gung-ho manner.
