This packaged sake is sold only in Niigata Prefecture. It is so famous that you can find it at almost any store in Niigata Prefecture. It is made with 100% Niigata rice and has no additives such as sugar or acidifiers, which are common in packaged sake. The taste is clean and full-bodied, a royal sake that can be served with any food! It is a very good wine. It is very cosy! Well, Niigata sake lovers, have you noticed? The logo in the center of the package has changed from "Niigata Seishu" to "Mizuhara Hyouko"! This casual local appeal is hard to resist 😉.

It caught my eye at the liquor corner of a convenience store and I was attracted by the cute picture book-like label. The name "Yumemiru Hitsuji"...what a wonderful name😊I wonder if I could have a good dream if I drank it before going to sleep? I was wondering if I could have a good dream if I drank it before going to sleep.... I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but it's a good thing.

This is a local sake from Ome City, Tokyo, where I lived for almost 10 years when I was young. I bought it by mail order from the brewer. It has a fresh and youthful taste like new sake. Unlike Niigata sake, it is less spicy and sharp. It was a perfect match with Kaneko's wasabi pickles, a specialty of Ome City, which we had as a snack. Local specialties go well with local sake, don't they? I'd love to live in Ome City again someday 😚

くるまや
Purchased at a liquor store in Higashi-ku, Niigata City. I was attracted by the cute handwritten pop-up saying "This is the owner's family's favorite sake" and picked it up. According to the owner, this sake is the reason he started doing business with this brewer. Encounters like that are one of the joys of sake. The taste is the traditional Niigata Danrei dry taste. You can feel the transparency, the soft acidity and the richness spread in your mouth, and finally, it refreshes you. It is a versatile sake that complements any dish. This is Niigata sake at its best. Delicious😋. Thank you for a once in a lifetime encounter.

Special Honjozo from Kitayuki Shuzo in Sado. The harmony of sweetness, spiciness, and aroma...yummeee! The rice polishing ratio is Daiginjo class (Koji rice 50%, Kake rice 55%), but the price is only 1,000 yen per bottle...very reasonable! It is no wonder that this sake won the "Niigata Liquor Store's Choice Delicious Sake Grand Prix" a few years ago.

くるまや
It was purchased at the roadside station Nishi-Aizu. It is a special junmai made by listening to Mozart during the unrefined sake. The first impression is that it is soft, mellow and gentle. However, it is a dry sake that you will never get tired of drinking. It is a sake that I like. The idea of having microorganisms listen to music is very cool. Drinking it while imagining all sorts of things, like the innocent and elegant atmosphere of Mozart's music, is another way to enjoy the sake. In the future, I can imagine how the taste will change if I try it with various kinds of music, such as hard rock, techno, and folk music.

Honjozo from a small handmade brewery in Kita-ku, Niigata City. I used to love the Junmai (no longer made) in this series. My first Honjozo...took a sip and...yes! It's good. I love this stuff 😆 I get excited when I unexpectedly come across a sake that I like. Personally, I think it is the ultimate Danrei dry sake. It is smooth and has no peculiarities at all. Some people might say that it has no personality or that it's a watery sake, but I personally love this very understated, watery, gentle and easy sake. You can have as many glasses as you like, and it goes well with all kinds of snacks. Thank you very much for the food.

くるまや
This sake and yogurt liqueur is a collaboration between Hakuryu Shuzo, a manufacturer in Agano City, Niigata Prefecture, and Yasuda Yogurt. It is a limited time peach flavor. It's basically a drinkable yogurt. It is not too sweet as I imagined, and the sourness of the yogurt and the richness of the sake match each other well, making it easy to drink. The label is also cute, so I think you could enjoy it as a dessert alongside a Christmas cake.

This is a regular sake from a brewery in Tsunan Town, Niigata Prefecture, known for its heavy snowfall. What makes this sake so special is its smooth texture! It is made with the same ultra-soft water as my favorite Famima PB "Tsunan no Naturamizu". This is one of the bottles that taught me that the difference in water can make such a difference in the way it feels on the palate. It has a dry taste and a smooth throat. The dry taste, the smoothness of the throat, and the feeling of being left with only a lingering aftertaste will whet your appetite for more! Also, the name "Fog Tower" is fantastic and cool. This is one of my favorite breweries. I've visited it several times.

This is a fizzy sake from the Asahiyama series, the signature brand of Asahi Shuzo (Nagaoka City), which is known for Kubota. You can enjoy the gentle and refreshing sweetness and refreshing throat feeling like a lactobacillus drink (Lupis) as the image on the label. It has no added sugar, and its natural sweetness comes from rice and rice malt only. The bottle design is also very attractive, and I would recommend this bottle to beginners of sake. I take my hat off again to Asahi Shuzo for their well-balanced flavor design!

くるまや
Purchased at Hirasei Yokogoshi store. It is my local sake and the basic sake. It is the royal road of Niigata Danrei dry taste. It is a sake that is designed to complement the food it is served with. It is a model of Tsuki and Maru, which are familiar at mass merchandisers. I think the essence of Niigata sake is that it doesn't assert itself, but plays a supporting role. I like that way of life. Kanbai is the best! Local is the best!

Purchased at Super Center Musashi Food Hall Niigata. It is characterized by the yellow liquid color from aging, the sourness and the richness like old sake. It has a mild taste without being overpowering, which is typical of Niigata sake. It goes well with bitter chocolate! Don't let your cat drink it! That's right... lol

Purchased at Roadside Station Bandai (Fukushima Prefecture). The label is very nice (this is important!). This Ginjo is fragrant, sweet and mellow. If you enjoy this sake by itself, you will get tired of drinking it, so it is best to enjoy it with strong food and snacks!
