Hannya-yu means "alcohol" in the Buddhist world. According to the teachings, drinking was forbidden in order to overcome the severe cold, and it is thought that drinking would have been permitted if it was for healing illnesses, etc. "Hannya (meaning "wisdom") hot water" was used to drink sake.

I'm not sure about the store's label, but is it a draft sake? The alcohol content is high, so it feels like sipping while drinking. After the honeyed rice-sweet and sour taste similar to that of Kikuhime is gone, a dry aftertaste slowly spreads from one point on the tongue to the entire mouth. It is fun to drink while licking scotch.

I bought this sake after reading in a guidebook that it is the only sake brewery in Koyasan!
