After comparing 4 kinds of sake
There were too many snacks left, so we added more sake.
Since we were going on a trip, we thought it would be nice to have some local sake,
I thought it would be nice to have a sake that I could drink while I was there.
We chose a sake from Tenzan Shuzo, the brewer of Shichida,
I was surprised to learn that this sake is only distributed in Kyushu.
Rice: Yamadanishiki, Saga no Hana
Rice polishing ratio 55
Alcohol content 16
Ichinomiya Shrine & Local Sake Tour Vol. 33
Hizen-no-kuni Ichinomiya Yohinomikami Shrine
We stopped by on the way to Ureshino Onsen.
It is said that the goddess is enshrined as the god of water and is believed to bring blessings for family safety and traffic safety.
We bought a bottle of Iwanokura at a liquor store near the prefectural government office.
It is a Kyushu-only distribution of Tenzan Shuzo, the company that makes Shichida.
It has a subtle sweet aroma and a sweetness that is somewhere between ricey and fruity, and when I drank it, I felt it had a balanced taste.
I had it with some nori tsukudani (seaweed boiled down in soy sauce) that I bought at the local JF and felt the Saga flavor.
Thank you very much for the food 🙏!
On a trip to Saga.
The kind only available in Saga.
It's firm and tasty.
I wanted to eat live squid, but I heard it was already past its season...
I had dried squid instead. Delicious.
It is distributed only in Kyushu. It is the best product that combines the mellow aroma and flavor of rice. I should have bought two or three more bottles.
Yamadanishiki/Saga no Hana. Gentle sweetness like apple.
It can be enjoyed at room temperature as well as when cooled to a crisp.
Tenzan Shuzo is known for its Shichida series,
The Iwanokura, distributed within Saga Prefecture, is also excellent ✨.
Gorgeous aroma reminiscent of apples,
The fresh gasiness and juicy flavor.
It has a youthful image typical of new sake, but
Deliciously well-balanced sake quality😊.
Thank you for the treat!
Drinking alone🍶 at nearby Takeo Onsen ♨️ on a business trip to Kyushu. I'll have a Kyushu limited edition sake from the same brewery as Shichida, a set of three different kinds, and I'll try my hand at sake tasting 🤣 to take out my frustration at losing in the playoffs for the Tochigi qualifying round of the sake tasting championships.
It has a sourness and a lingering aftertaste 😋.
Iwanokura Junmai Ginjo
Rating 4.4
Ingredients: Yamadanishiki/Saga no Hana, Rice polishing ratio 55%, Alcohol 16%.
The flagship of Iwanokura, with a stable aroma and flavor balance. Limited distribution in Kyushu. The aroma is reminiscent of apples and white peaches. Delicate and soft on the palate.
The sweetness that spreads in the mouth is balanced with a hint of sourness. The sweetness is typical of Saga sake. The acidity is moderately effective and refreshing. Convergence is slightly spicy and bitter.
