I happened to drop by a store of "Fressey", a community-based supermarket mainly in Gunma Prefecture, and found a label of "Ogo" on Katsuragawa River.
Ogo is the name of a place in Maebashi City, the former Ogo Town, which became Maebashi City after the Heisei no Dai-merger.
I thought it was more acidic than the regular Junmai Ginjo Kayukawa, and the label said so.
If I had to choose a favorite, I would prefer the regular version, but it is quite interesting that there is a limited edition version with a unique label, just like a local sake brewer.
As a side note, the Yanagisawa Brewery is located in the former village of Kasukawa, Setagun, which also became Maebashi City with the Heisei no Daikan merger.
Delicious! Although it is supposed to be sweet, the aroma is surprisingly refreshing and smooth, and the rice-like aroma comes through. The aroma is also mild during the meal!
We heard the first cicadas this summer, so it's time for another year of Extinction MAX👍.
This is one I look forward to every year!
When the bottle is opened and poured, it has a custard and tortoise shell candy type aroma.
The mouthfeel is clean, as is typical of Gunma sake, with a rich sweetness spreading immediately after.
It has a dense sweetness like custard, butter cream, and tropical fruits.
However, when drunk in a gulp, the spiciness with a punchy finish, accented with a touch of astringency, leaves a crisp aftertaste!
On the rocks, both the sweet and pungent tastes are neutralized, and the syrupiness is replaced by a nectar-like flavor. The pungent astringency becomes more refreshing and comfortable to drink ✨.
The heat is so hot that even the cicadas are about to become extinct.
We will get through it with sake power...!
National Sake Fair 2025 Day 2 part70
Gunma (1)
Yanagisawa Sake Brewery in Maebashi City
I've had a collaboration sake with Machida Sake Brewery before.
I think the only sake from this brewery that can be bought in Kansai is from Masuda Shoten in Sennichimae.
Polishing ratio 60%, common rice/mochi rice 15.5 degrees, Sake degree -1.0, Acidity 1.4
No.10 yeast, 1210 yen
It is said to be watered and fired once.
It is sweet, rich, and heavy.
I thought it would be a classic hard-to-drink sake, but I like it a lot.
held at G-Messe in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
Gunma's Local Sake Festa" held at G-Messe in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. Gunma's sake rice Maikaze was unveiled.
Maikaze, it's not a brand name, it's sake rice.
It is a good learning experience.
I would like to drink an all-Gunma sake with Maikaze sake rice and Gunma KAZE yeast.
I would like to drink all-Gunma sake someday.
This is the second time this spring I purchased arabashiri nama-zake ICHIMATSU. The last time, the condition of the second day was not so good due to a malfunction of the stopper, so I purchased it again.
Like last time, it had a refreshing sweetness, slight acidity, and a pleasant gaseous taste.
It was still a delicious sake.
The second day was also very good.
Sake from the very local Yanagisawa Sake Brewery.
KATSURAGAWA ICHIMATSU" ARABASHIRI, direct pumping, raw sake.
Purchased at Takahashi Yoh Shoten for ¥1,870-.
The aroma is fresh and unobtrusive, with a slight effervescence that can be detected when pouring.
The sweetness, acidity, and a slight gassiness make for a refreshing taste.
On the second day, the cork was not properly set and the gaseous sensation was dramatically reduced (due to a problem with the accuracy of the cork).
Anyway, it was a very tasty sake.
I would like to buy it again with regret.
