We received a bottle of Takaragawa from the Kyokui (Kanei) Tanaka Sake Brewery! It seems to be the only sake brewery in Otaru.
There are 3 kinds of sake so I'll try them in order 😁.
Junmai
It was dry but easy to drink. If you drink it at room temperature, you can taste the flavor. It becomes even easier to drink when cooled. It is also good as a heated sake.
Junmai Ginjo
Well balanced in taste and aroma, with a sweetness that makes it easy to drink.
Junmai Daiginjo
I brought this sake for the first time at the off-line meeting: ❗️
It is a clear, cloudy sake with a refreshing taste.
This was the first time I checked in for sake from Hokkaido myself, so it was a double commemorative sake 😁.
Good evening, Robin 😃.
Congratulations on bringing your first Hokkaido sake ㊗️ and participating in the Kansai Offline Meeting for the first time ㊗️ double 🎉I've never had Mr. Takaragawa 🥲 but each of the three varieties all sound delicious 😚.
Good evening, Robin. This is the first time I have heard of a sake called Takaragawa. I wish I could have tried it 💕Thank you for your time at the offline meeting 😊.
Good morning, Jay & Nobby 😃It was a good weekend with my first Hokkaido sake and first participation in the Kansai Off-line Meeting. Takaragawa-san had 3 different kinds of sake, each with its own character👍.
Good morning, Hirupeko 😃.
I'm sorry you couldn't come 😭I had a hard time choosing the sake for the off-line meeting🤣I wish I could have had everyone compare 3 kinds of sake.
Thank you Robin for the year-end party 😊and congratulations on your first visit to Hokkaido 🎉!
It's my first time to drink outside of Hokkaido and my first time in Otaru 😳Thank you for the rare, easy to drink and delicious sake, it was a treat!
Hi Robin 😀
It was my first time to meet you, but as expected, you got used to the atmosphere right away😇.
It was my first time to drink Takaragawa, but I would like to travel to Hokkaido someday to drink it again in my hometown 😇.
Pon-chan, thank you so much for everything at the year-end party😊I was really worried about whether it would be a good idea to bring some Hokkaido sake, but I'm glad it turned out okay 😃.
Hi Yasube!
I happened to meet some of you, and I also got your comments on Sake-no-wa, so I got used to you right away 🤣.
I'm sure Takarakawa would have a different image if you drank it directly in Hokkaido👍.
Good evening, Robin 🌔.
Thank you for your hard work in the offline meeting! Thank you very much for your precious dry sake in the Kansai branch of Sakegawa, where there are many sweet and perverted 🫶 types of sake 😊.
It was refreshing and easy to drink.
Let's talk a lot next time!
Good morning, Maru-san!
Thank you very much for everything at the offline meeting 🙇I didn't know everyone's tastes, so I was very confused when I made my choice 💦I hope I was able to serve Hogawa in a clear style 🙄 Let's talk more next time👍.
Izakaya near Kyushu University Hospital
Rare Hokkaido Sake
Drink cold
Clear and colorless
Almost no aroma
On the palate, it has a firm richness with a dryness.
It leaves a sharp dry taste in the mouth, but it finishes quickly.
When warmed, it has a full-bodied flavor, but the overall impression is light.
Purchased at the brewery on a recent trip to Hokkaido.
Basically, it is only available in Otaru.
(Mail order is available).
The white label is regular junmai, and the red label is umakuchi junmai.
When I tasted the white label at the brewery, I was under the impression that the taste was rather refreshing and calm, but...
When I heated the sake I purchased, I got a very favorable impression of the flavor. Especially the red label is very good.
It was a pleasant discovery.
We tasted a lot of sake at Kitaichi Glass Outlet, a nice local sake shop in Otaru.
They had a wide variety of sake from Hokkaido, including Niagara (wine) from Otaru Brewery, plum wine, and mirin (sweet sake) made by a sake brewery.
There were also a lot of sake from Otaru Brewery, Umeshu (Japanese plum wine), and Hon Mirin (Japanese sweet cooking rice wine) made by a sake brewery!
Since I was in Otaru, I bought a bottle of Otaru's only sake brewery, Tanaka Shuzo's Takaragawa, and a bottle of Takasago Shuzo's Umeshu (plum wine), which makes Niagara and Kokushimusou.
I was surprised to learn that ume (plum) wine is also made at a sake brewery. I didn't know that was possible. I would like to hear about it.
I was impressed to see all the sake breweries in Hokkaido! Thank you Otaru!
I bought a lot of sake.
Update: 2024/09/08↓↓↓↓↓
After the above, I went home and drank some Takaragawa!
Let me write about my impression at that time.
It was the first aroma I have ever smelled in a sake...it was rightly vanilla. I didn't know such a sake existed.
It was so delicate and so delicious that even after drinking it, I felt like there was still something in the depths of the bottle.
The production date was only 3 months ago.
It is my favorite sake.
I have been an adult for two years now, and for the first time I can confidently answer the question, "What is your favorite sake? I can answer with confidence. I'm sure I will have many more encounters with various kinds of sake in the future ( ´˘` ).
When the members of the Sake-no-wa Ataoka Mahjong team visited Hokkaido, we visited Tanaka Shuzo Kameko-gura in Otaru and purchased this sake ❗
The nostalgic streets of Otaru and a long-aged sake is a romantic experience 🎵.
When you pour it into a glass, it has a strong candy color 🍭 and when you drink it, you can feel the richness unique to aged sake 😋.
Otaru is a popular tourist destination in Hokkaido! If you are in Otaru, please visit Tanaka Sake Brewery ❗There are many other interesting sake products as well 😉.
Good evening, Mr. Noodle King 🌛.
I remember when I went to Hokkaido for the first time, the first stop was Otaru and Sapporo 😁.
It's a shame I wasn't into sake back then 💦.
I was also surprised that the distance between Betsukai and Otaru is almost 500k!
Takaragawa Junmai" @Otaru
720ml 1,500yen
Junmai Daiginjo-shu Takaragawa" won the Silver Prize at the 2023 All-Japan Sake Competition. It is a dry Junmai sake with a gentle aroma and a refreshing mouthfeel that spreads a moderate umami flavor.
It is the only locally brewed sake in Otaru. Founded in 1899, the Four Seasons Brewery is a year-round sake brewery in Otaru.
