We tasted a lot of sake at Kitaichi Glass Outlet, a nice local sake shop in Otaru. They had a wide variety of sake from Hokkaido, including Niagara (wine) from Otaru Brewery, plum wine, and mirin (sweet sake) made by a sake brewery. There were also a lot of sake from Otaru Brewery, Umeshu (Japanese plum wine), and Hon Mirin (Japanese sweet cooking rice wine) made by a sake brewery! Since I was in Otaru, I bought a bottle of Otaru's only sake brewery, Tanaka Shuzo's Takaragawa, and a bottle of Takasago Shuzo's Umeshu (plum wine), which makes Niagara and Kokushimusou. I was surprised to learn that ume (plum) wine is also made at a sake brewery. I didn't know that was possible. I would like to hear about it. I was impressed to see all the sake breweries in Hokkaido! Thank you Otaru! I bought a lot of sake. Update: 2024/09/08↓↓↓↓↓ After the above, I went home and drank some Takaragawa! Let me write about my impression at that time. It was the first aroma I have ever smelled in a sake...it was rightly vanilla. I didn't know such a sake existed. It was so delicate and so delicious that even after drinking it, I felt like there was still something in the depths of the bottle. The production date was only 3 months ago. It is my favorite sake. I have been an adult for two years now, and for the first time I can confidently answer the question, "What is your favorite sake? I can answer with confidence. I'm sure I will have many more encounters with various kinds of sake in the future ( ´˘` ).

A lot of local sake is on the menu. This time we had Tantozuru by Chitotsuru. The hokke at this restaurant is delicious. The name of the restaurant is Danmaya Suisan Sapporo Kitaguchi! I hope everyone at Hokkaido University can go there as often as they want.

I went to a collaboration event between sake merchant Yamada and Miyasaka Brewery! The plan was to visit 7 izakaya (Japanese style pubs) in the shopping arcade to enjoy a Masumi tasting and their specialty snacks to match. I gave up after the fifth store... I had a great time chatting with the event participants sitting next to me and exploring the shopping arcade in search of the target stores. This project was a super high-level event, a natural way to visit izakaya in Hiroshima's shopping district, and a great way to experience both sake and the local area. It was amazing... who on earth would have thought...

This is Umeda Station in Osaka? It is located at This is Junmai Sake Kasu Tamanomitsu at the Whity Umeda branch in Umeda Station, Osaka. I had a sake cocktail for the first time in my life. The sweet aroma of sake matched with the fresh and invigorating flavor of lemon tea, it was a delicious cocktail perfect for summer. I would like to go back.

When I asked him what would go well with the fried oysters he served us, he gave me this. I heard it is popular even overseas. Thank you very much. I would like to witness the moment when they came up with this brand.

I went to an event organized by the Higashi-Hiroshima Junior Chamber of Commerce, Kara Sake Brewery, and rice farmers. I attended the last day of the event, which was a large scale event where participants experienced everything from rice cultivation to sake brewing and bottling. Many families with children participated in the event, and I was impressed by the children drawing labels on the bottles, which their parents looked at with delight. I am sure that after drinking the wine, they will display them for the rest of their lives. I thought it was a wonderful event that connected the children with the local people and the land. I also enjoyed making shimenawa (sacred straw ropes). I personally like my own design.

When I learned about No. 6, I decided to save up and definitely drink it someday. One week later, I was given the opportunity to drink No. 6 for the first time in my life, courtesy of the kindness of the doctors. It is a memory that will last a lifetime. I was so happy that I took the bottle home as a souvenir.

This was the day I first encountered the true existence of sake! If it wasn't for this day, I wouldn't have been able to fall in love with sake. I have nothing but gratitude to you, Mr. Tsuka! Thank you so much for giving us the tour of the brewery, the experience in the koji room, and even letting us taste the sake mother. I think the mother of sake at that time is the best in the world, no joke. I'd like to post some pictures, but I'm afraid I can't.
